ALTEN CANADA is currently seeking a Automation Specialist to join our team


Key Responsibilities:

  • The scope includes PLCs and custom PC based PLC/HMI for the Downstream and Support Utilities Workstream. The scope includes:
  • Communicate all issues and escalate as required to the workstream and discipline leadership team
  • Participate in all workstream and C&Q meetings and communicate progress and/or roadblocks clearly and effectively.
  • Execute SAT test scripts along side of the vendor for all skids.
  • Support of SAT and post-SAT Activities with Alfa Wasserman
  • Ability to learn and troubleshoot National Instruments Labview Software
  • National Instruments NI cRIO controller
  • Basic Navigation of MS SQL Server 2008
  • Programming and troubleshoot with Studio5000 v32 and higher.
  • Program and troubleshoot with FactoryTalk View ME v12 and higher.
  • Configuration and troubleshooting of PowerFlex VFDs. (755/525)
  • Configuration and troubleshooting 2711P Panel view Plus 7
  • Configuration and troubleshooting ControlLogix PLCs (5580 Family)
  • Configuration and troubleshooting CompactLogix PLCs (5380 Family).
  • Configuration of Automation Software in PC based HMIs.
  • Creation and maintenance of Automation Documents (FS, SDS, HDS, etc.)
  • Execution of Computer System Validation test scripts in (GxP Pharmaceutical type of scripts)
  • Integrating PLC to the PI Enterprise Historian (50-200 tags per skid).
  • Configuration and use of FactoryTalk AssetCentre (upload all HMI and PLC files as per site SOP)
  • Walk-downs and red-lines of electrical drawings and P&IDs.


Key Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of related experience
  • Delta V knowledge
  • Pharmaceutical industry is preferred
