Overview:

HS Coordinator will help to support the regional Health and Safety Manager and regional business team of implementation of health and safety management systems and processes. Assist to provide health and safety guidance to the operations to help the region comply with Lafarge Group Standards, Country level policies, and jurisdictional regulations. Serve as a strategic business partner providing technical subject matter expertise and guidance on hazard recognition and risk mitigation controls through active engagement with front line leaders and workers.

Responsibilities:
  1. Market Area & Product Line Accountability:
  2. Provide direct H&S coaching to the operational site level leadership, safety committee representatives, and embedded safety personnel
  3. Assist with facilitation and coordination of training including annual startups, supervisor seminars, visual personal commitment, Boots on the Ground, etc.
  4. Perform risk assessments and development of safe work procedures for regional and country purposes
  5. Provide guidance and support to operations to meet OHS, country, and Group expectations
  6. Assists with facilitation of serious investigations including recordable injuries, near misses, critical incidents, etc.
  7. Assist to accompany and comply with OHS inspections and potential orders
  8. Plan, coordinate, and conduct COR audits to ensure annual rebate for the region
  9. Support the regional operations in preparation for Group HSMS audits and develop action plans for continuous improvement
  10. Participate in North America HSMS audits identifying compliance gaps against Group health and safety standards
  11. Support HS manager and regional operations in development and implementation of H&S priorities, guidance documents, key lessons learned, best practices, policies, etc.
  12. Support and guide the regional operations in claim management and injury prevention
  13. Support HS Manager in implementation of both country and regional HSE-IP objectives
  14. Assist with utilization of internal reporting tools to meet country reporting requirements
  15. Support regional operations in implementation and maintenance of programs such as Sitedocs, Icare, Avetta, etc.
  16. Assist to develop and share regional communications to all stakeholders including key lessons, best practices, alerts, KPIs, etc.
Relationships with Other Jobs:
  • Collaborate with the WCAN HS Team and Head of Health & Safety in determining Country priorities and action plans
  • Develop and maintain positive and constructive relationships with local regulatory agencies
  • Engage with front line leadership and workers through being present in the field (minimum of 8 hours per week)
  • Collaborate with other functional regional functional supports and business partners such as Human Resource, Procurement, and Environment
Dimensions:

RMX plants, Aggregates, Asphalt, Construction (20 crews), Pipe/Precast

HS expert for the regional product line e.g. Cement, RMX, Aggregate, Concrete Products, Construction, etc.

Qualifications:

Education: Post-secondary certification (degree, diploma, certificate) in Occupational Health & Safety is preferred

Experience: 3-5 years working experience as a health & safety professional. Construction industry is preferred

Certification: CRSP preferred, CSO or NCSO is preferred, COR auditor certification is preferred

Skills: Excellent communication skills. Preferred computer skills: Google Platform, Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Knowledge of relevant Provincial regulations. Ability to communicate and interact effectively with all levels of the organization. Valid driver's license. Must be able to travel within North America.
