As the Senior Technology Counsel, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our legal strategies and ensuring compliance with technology and privacy regulations. You will support Arc’teryx globally across a range of transactions, focusing on technology-based deals and privacy matters. This role is based out of our North Vancouver office and is open to hybrid remote work. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.

Legal sits within the Finance Organization at Arc’teryx as well as the Global Amer Sports Legal Team. We are dedicated to providing strategic legal advice and support across all departments. We work collaboratively to mitigate risks and ensure compliance, driving the business forward with innovative legal solutions.

If you were in the Senior Technology Counsel role now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing:
  • Advising on all technology deals across the Arc'teryx business, including SaaS Agreements, Technology Licenses, Evaluation Agreements, and Global MSAs
  • Negotiating, drafting, and delivering pragmatic risk-based advice on assigned transactions, helping develop supporting policies and governance across technology and digital areas
  • Providing strategic advice to senior stakeholders (including the CIO)
  • Supporting legal matters related to cyber incidents, including advising on good document practice
  • Using legal technology to drive efficiencies across Legal, including contract automation
  • Advising on privacy-related matters, including compliance with global data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA)
  • Developing and implementing privacy policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Conducting privacy impact assessments and advising on data protection strategies
  • Collaborating with the Global Amer Sports Legal Team, including the intellectual property group, ensuring a consistent approach to contracting and mitigating legal risks
Here are some of the things you could be working on in the future:
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to support the development and launch of new technology products and services
  • Leading privacy training initiatives to drive capability uplift across Arc'teryx
  • Supporting business development projects, including licensing arrangements, collaboration agreements, acquisitions, and divestments
  • Enhancing the company's privacy program and ensuring ongoing compliance with evolving privacy laws
Are you our next Senior Technology Counsel?
  • You have a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or a Juris Doctor (J.D.).
  • You are a member in good standing with the Law Society of British Columbia.
  • You have a minimum of 5+ years of legal practice experience as a licensed lawyer, particularly in technology, digital, IT, and privacy-related matters.
  • You have experience and comfort advising on US contracts
  • You have experience working in a global legal environment
  • You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to explain complex legal issues in an easy-to-understand manner
  • You have a business-oriented and pragmatic approach to problem-solving
  • You have skill in analyzing and solving issues related to a wide variety of substantive legal area
  • You have experience working in-house with in a multinational company.
  • You have Data privacy experience, including familiarity with GDPR, CCPA, and other global data protection regulations (IAPP Certification preferred).
  • You have experience supporting a Global Procurement organization.
  • You have experience working with English law contracts and common law jurisdictions
  • You are proactive in identifying the root cause of issues, seeking the best (sometimes not the easiest) solutions with an unwavering commitment to do what is right
  • You remain highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguity
