Imagines, designs and produces original, innovative video content aimed at promoting the NFB, its programming, its productions and its brand image, as well as sparking target-audience interest and engagement. Collaborates with Creative Services colleagues in proposing original ideas and designing the content for various campaigns. Carries out various projects for branded content such as videos for social media ads, event content for different platforms, excerpts, trailers, in-production materials, extras, etc.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES- In collaboration with project stakeholders, develops comprehensive creative briefs for video content capture.
- As a member of the team, participates in brainstorming sessions and contributes to the discussion during various stages of the project’s creative process.
- Works closely with the Designer-Writer in proposing effective, easy-to-produce concepts that follow current media and social media trends.
- Researches visual materials, prepares scripts and storyboards, or captures content as required to meet the needs of planned team deliverables.
- Edits visual components independently or in collaboration with other stakeholders, and ensures necessary approvals are obtained.
- In collaboration with the Digital Graphic Designer, designs and creates visual special effects using editing and animation software, plugins and graphic manipulation.
- Researches and suggests concepts for soundtracks composed of various elements (sound effects, music, voice-overs, etc.) and coordinates their production.
- Under the supervision of the Head, Creative Services, and the Production Manager, organizes logistics for various phases, at times on tight deadlines, to ensure projects are delivered to users.
- Edits available audiovisual material according to specifications provided, to create promotional videos in various formats.
- Helps manage the video assets library in collaboration with the Coordinator, Marketing, Audiovisual & Digital.
- Collaborates with the Coordinator, Marketing, Audiovisual & Digital, in following up with internal and external collaborators and ensuring that brand assets are produced, delivered and archived according to established internal processes.
- Ensures compliance with budget constraints and deadlines.
- Plays a role in establishing procedures and standards while maintaining excellence in technological and creative techniques, to support the quality and integrity of the workflow.
- Works closely with colleagues to ensure consistency throughout the creative processes; designs deliverables while ensuring the established creative direction is applied and the highest quality standards are maintained.
- Performs strategic watch, stays up to date on digital practices and new trends in social media content, storytelling formats and audience engagement, and actively participates in team discussions on these topics.
- College diploma in Media Arts and Technology or equivalent;
- Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience, ideally in completing projects requiring video editing for advertising and promotional material;
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud suite (Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator, InDesign) or equivalent software;
- Experience in composing and organizing images and creating graphics, sound and music;
- Knowledge of existing graphic and technical standards in television and on the web;
- Familiarity with the entertainment industry, especially cinema;
- Experience with lightweight camera video capture is an asset;
- Bilingualism in the official languages (French and English), both orally and in writing
- Initiative, autonomy, adaptability, strong inclination towards collaboration;
- Innovative mindset, creativity, enthusiasm for change and a keen interest in continuous learning;
- Excellent ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, with an organized and rigorous approach to work, while meeting deadlines;
- Ability to establish good interpersonal relationships and to be effective in professional interactions.
