Job Purpose
  • RES currently provides High Voltage Operations and Maintenance (HV O&M) Services to renewable energy assets in the UK & Ireland. Due to increased demand from our clients, we are seeking an HV Senior Authorised Person (400kV) to grow and improve this service.
  • RES provides OFTO O&M to a number of sites around the UK where we are required to provide full Safety from the System services and either delivery or delivery management of a full O&M service.
Key Accountabilities

The responsibilities of the HV SAP’s include:

  • Always adherence to health and safety requirements and help to maintain and improve safety standards.
  • Achieve and maintain Senior Authorised Person status at increasing voltages.
  • Become fully conversant and make sure that all works are undertaken in accordance with the RES Electrical & Mechanical Safety Rules and Safety Rule Instructions, this will include but is not limited to:
    • Preparing, issuing and cancelling safety documents.
    • Carrying out switching, isolation and earthing duties.
    • Acting as Control Engineer.
    • Preparing switching schedules.
    • Managing the interface between system boundaries with site and DNO/NGT as required.
    • Producing and reviewing method statements and risk assessments.
    • Producing maintenance plans for HV equipment.
    • Maintaining the asset register.
    • Management and/or delivery of planned and unplanned maintenance activities on electrical equipment.
    • Producing final reports.
  • Undertaking troubleshooting and fault-finding on RES controlled plant/equipment.
  • Carrying out inductions for sub-contractors and deliver Competent Person Training.
  • Keeping in close communication with HV Control and Project Lead SAP.
  • Liaising with external stakeholders such as DNO/NGT and asset owner.
  • Reacting to emergencies, site outages and changing circumstances.
  • Other duties commensurate with the role.
KnowledgeEssential:
  • HV Safe Systems of Work.
  • Knowledge of the key legislation underpinning UK high voltage electrical asset operation and maintenance.
  • Detailed knowledge of UK industry HV electrical safety rules.
  • Detailed knowledge of HV equipment.
  • HV maintenance practices including HSG230.
Desirable:
  • Knowledge of offshore working.
SkillsEssential:
  • Strong approach to safe working practices.
  • Able to operate and maintain various types of HV plant/equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good people skills.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple activities whilst ensuring safety and quality are maintained.
  • Ability to identify problems, conduct analysis and develop solutions.
Desirable:
  • Able to use equipment for testing and fault finding on HV plant/equipment.
ExperienceEssential:
  • SAP Experience @ 400kV.
  • Operation and maintenance of HV Equipment.
  • Experience in fault finding on HV plant and equipment.
  • Commissioning HV plant and equipment.
Desirable:
  • Basic HV protection testing.
  • 400kV SAP.
QualificationsEssential:
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Previously held SAP authorisation under high voltage electrical safety rules at 400KV.
  • IOSH Managing Safely or CITB SMSTS or equivalent.
Desirable:
  • Electrical Engineering HNC or equivalent industry experience.
