About this job:

Position will report to the Canadian Branch Appointed Actuary to support the following:

  • Support the completion of the Financial Condition Test report to be filed by December 31st, 2024 including:
    • Act as a key contact with PartnerRe’s external consultants overseeing the development of the FCT financial projections;
    • Assist in development of assumptions for adverse scenarios as required by OSFI and Canadian Actuaries of Institute guidelines;
    • Review for accuracy and reasonableness modeled statutory financial results under the IFRS 17 accounting standard;
    • Oversee development of the report narrative and support compilation of the complete report;
    • Oversee development of the required presentation to management of FCT results;
    • If time permits, scope the project plan, including the necessary work effort, required to develop internal financial models to support the FCT analysis.
  • Support the completion of the year-end Appointed Actuary’s Report to be filed by February 28th, 2025 including:
    • Support the development of PartnerRe’s internal analysis & exhibit template;
    • Work with the Canadian Finance and Group Actuarial IFRS 17 teams to ensure underlying data accuracy and complete reconciliations of AAR results against actuarial components of the financial statements under IFRS 17;
    • Assist in the development of assumptions as required by OSFI and Canadian Actuaries of Institute guidelines;
    • Oversee development of the report narrative and support the compilation of the complete report and supplementary data to be filed with OSFI;
    • Oversee development of the required presentation to management of year-end AA results;
    • Assist in the development of actuarial disclosure notes for the financial statements.

About you:

  • Fellow or Associate of an internationally recognized actuarial society.
  • Experience in non-life reserving or pricing in the reinsurance field, or related actuarial experience.
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency in English.
  • High motivation, team-orientation and adaptability.
  • Strong IT and data management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Property & Casualty lines of business.
  • Strong ability to work remotely with team members and across departments across multiple time zones.
