Job Description

Department Managers are responsible for various managerial tasks such as sales maximization, customer service, and department profitability while coaching teams within a department. This role is a blend of manager and mentor, focusing on developing teams to unlock their potential.

Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

People:
  1. Organize and distribute the work of staff, set priorities, and keep an overview of tasks in accordance with the Store Manager.
  2. Manage, recruit, onboard, train, develop, and provide succession planning for the staff in partnership with the Store Manager.
  3. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  4. Assist the Store Manager in maintaining an overview of Employee Relations responsibilities in the store.
Commerciality:
  1. Maximize sales through operational and commercial focus to achieve profitability.
  2. Ensure team knowledge on all product, campaign, promotion, display guidelines, and merchandise information.
  3. Maintain garment presentation and visual standards according to H&M’s expectations.
  4. Coordinate with the visual team on all activities concerning campaigns and promotions.
Operations:
  1. Schedule staff within the department according to business needs.
  2. Make business decisions using sales and cost plans, budgets, and other tools.
  3. Complete cash office operational functions.
  4. Follow safety and security routines to prevent loss and ensure safety.
  5. May be assigned overall store responsibility in the absence of the Store Manager.
Customer Service:
  1. Provide high-quality customer service and ensure the best shopping experience.
  2. Assist the Store Manager in establishing and overseeing sales and cost plans.
  3. Accurately record sales and worked hour figures.
Qualifications:
  1. High School graduate or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  2. 2-3 years of retail management experience, including direct supervisory experience.
  3. Ability to lift in excess of 20 pounds and stand for long periods.
  4. Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
  5. Proven organizational and analytical skills.
  6. Ability to work strategically, tactically, and operationally.
  7. Open availability including evenings and weekends.
  8. Job Status: Non-Exempt, Hourly.
