Job Description

Arcadis Professional Services Markham has an opening for an intermediate Electrical Engineering or Technologist to join our team. We are currently seeking a candidate with up to 3 years of Electrical design experience and experience in CADD software (AutoCAD and MicroStation) and drafting experience. We value self-starters with strong communication skills who can collaborate effectively across disciplines. Recent graduates with co-op and/or work experience are encouraged to apply.
This opportunity will allow you to work on high-profile projects specifically in the Electrical Engineering Transportation Industry, working alongside senior members, junior staff, and provides you an opportunity to work with our client base.

Role Responsibilities:
  1. Support Management and Senior Designers in the development of Roadway and High Mast Lighting systems, Traffic Signal designs of the Electrical Department, and Intelligent Transportation Systems Contracts.
  2. Ability to make changes or revisions to existing and new drawings using CADD software.
  3. Ability to work with the design team in preparing conceptual and detailed design layouts and detailed drawings for various projects.
  4. Ability to utilize CADD (AutoCAD and MicroStation) software to prepare preliminary electrical layout design and detail drawings for a wide range of infrastructure projects (including layout plans, detail design, wiring schematics, equipment summary tables and charts, cross-section, and elevation drawings).
  5. Ability to convert digital CADD files into DXF files from AGI 32 lighting software output files into CADD software.
  6. Proactively advance design techniques and procedures (as required) to help support other designers, technical staff, and project managers.
  7. Ability to coordinate drawings with other disciplines, team members, and coordination of drawing filing systems.
Qualifications:
  • Electrical Engineering Technologist College Diploma or similar Post-Secondary diploma focused on Engineering Technology.
  • Up to 3 years of related CADD Design experience.
  • Advanced skills using both AutoCAD and MicroStation and drafting experience is a must-have.
  • Good computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel are expected, Microsoft Visio skills are an asset.
  • A self-starter who must be able to multi-task with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • A contributing team player willing to contribute to various projects both in and out of his/her immediate team.
  • Ability to problem-solve.
  • Ability to understand, manipulate and configure large roadway files.
  • Good written and oral communication.
  • Some travel may be required and a valid Ontario G license is an asset.
