Senior Piping Designer

Calgary, Canada COOEC CANADA COMPANY Full time

We are looking for a Sr. Piping Designer to join our team. This position will be office-based with occasional travel to site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • A check and lead level Piping Designer role.
  • Complete understanding and application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the field. General knowledge of other related disciplines.
  • Provides solutions to a wide range of complex problems under general direction. Determines and develops approach to solutions.
  • Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.
  • Accomplish results through teaming with lower-level experienced exempt employees. Develop solutions to problems of unusual complexity that require a high degree of innovation and ingenuity.
  • Lead a section or group of designers/drafters, usually on a single project in a specialized field.
  • Perform standardized or prescribed assignments involving a sequence of related operations.
  • Interact with internal and external personnel on matters of moderate importance.
  • Design components or portions of systems, and modifies existing designs to develop or improve them.
  • Use computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools to gather information, make studies, perform calculations, and prepare original rough layouts and sketches to present design proposals.
  • Coordinate design criteria with engineering, tooling, material, and planning group in accordance with contractual specifications.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a two-year college program in Engineering Design and Drafting Technology or three-to-four-year apprentice program in a related field.
  • 8+ years experience as a Piping Designer within the Oil and Gas sector.
  • A sound knowledge and experience modelling equipment and piping in 3D CADD applications, specifically SmartPlant 3D (S3D).
  • Able to make basic day-to-day decisions which may involve planning and are well defined by project requirements.

COOEC Canada Company Ltd. is a Calgary-based EPCM firm specializing in engineering, design, and construction management in the oil and gas field. We are executing a wide range of SAGD, refinery, facility, pipeline, and multiple capital retainment projects.

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: $50.00-$70.00 per hour
