Prince George, Canada Scoutenengineering Full time

We are seeking an Accounting Technician who will be a key contributor to our financial operations, balancing a diverse range of tasks. This role involves everything from basic data entry to assisting in process improvements and budget tracking. As an essential member of our team, you will be vital in supporting our financial health and growth. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Responsible for efficient data entry, ensuring accuracy in recording financial transactions.
  • Performing bank reconciliations to maintain financial accuracy and integrity.
  • Prepare and record journal entries, contributing to the reliability of our financial records.
  • Managing the distribution of invoices and overseeing accounts receivable to ensure timely payments.
  • Assist with the monthly close process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Involvement in process improvement initiatives and maintaining data integrity will be key responsibilities.
  • Monitoring and reporting on budget variances.
  • Supporting the company’s compliance with regulatory requirements.

The successful candidate will possess a degree or diploma in a relevant field such as accounting, finance, or business administration. Proven experience in financial operations, such as data entry, bookkeeping, payroll processing, and a strong understanding of accounting principles is essential. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in accounting software and a commitment to maintaining accurate financial records. Previous experience in an engineering field or professional services along with familiarity with relevant software such as Microsoft Office 365, Unanet ERP, and Adobe suite is considered an asset. This role entails managing the financial aspects of a diverse array of projects, including both structural and civil engineering works. It demands a comprehensive understanding of the various project types within our company's portfolio to ensure robust and efficient financial support and management across all projects. You will be expected to work independently, but under the guidance of our Controller. As well, your role will require constant collaboration with our technical and administrative team. This position includes working in a modern, well-equipped consulting engineering office. At Scouten Engineering, we are engineered for life. Our belief is that if we support our staff and encourage a healthy (and fun) lifestyle, our clients benefit as well. After work you can find us snowboarding, mountain biking, dancing, fishing, hunting, canoeing, and more. Our days consist of hard work, but in an office with a relaxed and casual atmosphere. Work starts and end hours are flexible.

Qualifications:

  • A degree or diploma in a relevant field, such as accounting, finance, or business administration.
  • Proven experience in financial operations, such as data entry, bookkeeping, payroll processing, and a strong understanding of accounting principles is essential.
  • The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in accounting software and a commitment to maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Previous experience working with engineers or other professional services providers would be considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with relevant software such as Microsoft Office 365, Unanet ERP, and Adobe suite is also an asset.
  • An ability to work independently and collaboratively with our teams.
