POSITION SUMMARY

The Accountant is a key member of the Vicwest Finance team and is responsible for providing support in the day-to-day accounting functions. Applying accounting principles, this role helps prepare and maintain accurate financial and business records.

Involved in full cycle month-end activities, including but not limited to general accounting records reconciliation and General Ledger maintenance, to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures. Prepares financial statements and supporting schedules. Responsible for the maintenance, integrity, and timeliness of weekly, monthly, and annual reporting. The position provides an ideal entry position for a candidate looking to join a fast-paced environment and grow in a high-performing accounting function. The Accountant reports directly to the Financial Controller.

SKILL, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Post-secondary degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA in process is an asset
  • Advanced Excel proficiency and working knowledge of SAP FICO module
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Team-oriented and collaborative
  • Bilingualism (French) is an asset
