Role Overview:

The Wine Consultant is responsible for providing and implementing strategic direction, coaching and training for both our team members and guests and supporting department managers while making safety a top priority in carrying out daily job duties.


What you will do:

Reporting to the Store Manager, the specific responsibilities of the Wine Consultant include but are not limited to the following areas:

  1. Implement educational (product/knowledge/sales techniques, etc.) and creative programs in our liquor store for both our team members and guests.
  2. Supporting private functions in the tasting center.
  3. In collaboration with Wine Buyers, manage the purchasing, selling and distributions of the personal wine locker program.
  4. Interact with guests on the sales floor to provide expert advice, create an ongoing relationship with key wine purchasers, and provide continuous education with our team.
  5. Maintain current industry and product knowledge through periodicals, meetings, and industry events.
  6. Create new or enhance existing programs or technologies to improve the experience of team members and guests.
  7. Maintain a booking calendar for the tasting rooms for educational classes and private functions.
  8. Leading and inspiring the team to the 4 Keys to Excellence.
  9. Contribute to the Team in living the Corporate Values of Integrity, Community and Excellence.
  10. To perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Who you are:

Looking for a career in Retail Store Operations as well as:

  1. Recognized wine education designation.
  2. Minimum 2 years of experience in the liquor industry.
  3. WSET 3 preferred or WSET 2 with a strong passion for wine.
  4. Experience hosting wine seminars and public events is an asset.
  5. Retail wine and spirits experience.
  6. Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and the ability to manage computer files efficiently.
  7. Effective interpersonal, leadership and communication skills.
  8. Motivation and ability to work in a busy environment.
  9. Effective planning, organization and time management skills.
  10. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  11. Demonstrate the ability to maintain relationships outside of the organization that supports the organization.
  12. Enjoy working with public.
  13. Ability to physically lift, push, pull up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis and stand for full 8 hour shift.
  14. Must be committed to a SAFE working environment.
  15. MUST be over 19 years of age to be considered.
  16. MUST have open availability and able to work a variety of shifts that include mornings, afternoons, and evenings till 8pm.
