What you would engage in:

As a Business Unit Accountant, you will have the opportunity to work with a talented accounting team in support of KCB’s Mining Environmental Group (“MEG”). Reporting to the Accounting Team Lead, this individual will be responsible for a variety of project and business unit accounting functions in collaboration with other members of the finance and accounting team as well as regional office managers. This role comes with the flexibility to work a hybrid schedule and if continuing your career journey with us we will provide you with the opportunity to:

  • Setup projects, bill rates, budgets, and manage project-related invoicing.
  • Oversee project accounting activities including time transfers, revenue adjustments, and expense reviews.
  • Assist in preparing monthly project and expense analysis reports.
  • Manage end-to-end process of reviewing, setting up, and monitoring projects.
  • Review contract, purchase order (PO), and change order (CO) terms and conditions.
  • Support project monitoring reports and standardize project report content.
  • Drive continuous improvements in project accounting processes.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with project team members and managers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What we require:

We respect the knowledge and experience you have gained to date, and we are willing to help you build on it. We do however require the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
  • 4+ years of relevant experience, preferably in project accounting.
  • Strong organizational skills with impeccable attention to detail.
  • Result-oriented and mature personality with a proactive communication style.
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Proficiency in MS Office products.
  • Experience with ERP project accounting systems.
  • Previous accounting experience in an engineering consulting company is an asset.
  • Understanding of GAAP and accounting controls.
