Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for providing overall strategic direction and leadership in the administration of policies, practices, rules and regulations as these affect program planning, development and administration, student progress, student life, recruitment, admissions, registration and graduation. The Manager also exercises leadership in providing advice on the development, use and maintenance of information systems as these affect and intersect with the School’s business practices and management of Professional Graduate Programs offered through the Sprott School of Business to a clientele that includes students, alumni, faculty and employers.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of best practices in higher education (Canada and internationally) particularly in the business school context.
- Knowledge of finance, budget, and administration policies, procedures, and processes.
- Knowledge of internal controls, audit, and accounting practices and processes.
- Knowledge of relevant governing legislation, collective agreements, accreditation and quality assurance standards, policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of project management principles, tools, and processes.
- Knowledge of group facilitation techniques for strategic planning.
- Knowledge of the School as well as the broader university academic units, departments and divisions.
- Knowledge of office productivity software and databases, internet browsers and search engines, discipline-specific software, enterprise software, and technology devices.
- Knowledge of cultural competency and diversity in a business context.
- Highly motivated and a strong willingness to make decisions.
- Analytic and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in fostering effective communication within and among groups to motivate individuals and teams to achieve objectives.
- Ability to organize and control a demanding schedule of conflicting priorities and deadlines.
- Knowledge of project management principles.
- Independent work ethic and desire for excellence.
- Career Services and/or advising experience an asset.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors’ degree. Masters’ degree preferred.
- Minimum of four years of previous progressive management or administrative experience working at a middle level or senior level in an academic setting.
- Related experience in human resources, academic quality assurance, operational and strategic planning and project implementation preferred.
