Senior Business Analyst– Job Description

  • The successful candidate will be required to lead short business needs analysis for 5 projects under the Geospatial Ontario IT Program
  • Responsibilities include providing a comprehensive range of I&IT business analysis services, interacting with business stakeholders, preparing and advising on business analysis policies, and leading and conducting business analysis to assess client’s business problems/opportunities
  • The role also involves developing strategies, preparing business cases, conducting feasibility studies, and developing sound processes for requirements gathering

Senior Business Analyst– Mandatory Skills

  • Experience leading technical needs assessment for multi-stakeholder, geospatial solution discovery projects
  • Experience fostering engagement, and developing effective requirement gathering strategies
  • Experience with business and use case modelling, conceptual and logical data modelling
  • Experience rapidly and succinctly documenting discovery outcomes
  • Experience assessing client business requirements and identifying best technology solutions
  • Experience identifying, researching, developing and assessing information related to architecture and data management options
  • Experience evaluating directions, trends, standards, and policies in a complex and evolving environment
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills
  • Experience communicating, presenting, facilitating, and leading client dialogues
  • Experience providing advice, leading workshops, and developing and delivering presentations to clients and senior management
  • Experience leading geospatial (Esri) based projects e.g., ArcGIS Portal and/or ArcGIS Online
  • Experience leading IT solution discovery e.g., On premises vs. cloud provider-based solutions
  • Experience with business analysis processes, tools, technology, methodologies, and modelling expertise
  • Experience integrating product objectives, goals, and metrics
  • Experience with software development life cycles, software design, development and integration, reporting tools, database concepts, user interface design principles, change management, quality assurance, risk management, disaster recovery planning, and business continuity planning

Senior Business Analyst – Preferred Skills

  • Experience leading discovery on projects involving Esri-based geospatial solutions, ArcGIS Portal, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Image Server, GIS infrastructure, middleware, maintenance, services, applications, databases, monitoring, and tools
  • Experience leading discovery on projects involving integrated networking technologies, Microsoft Azure, Oracle Spatial, MS Fabric, midrange server, enterprise storage, and personal computer system technologies
  • Knowledge and understanding of Information Management principles, concepts, policies and practices
  • Ability to translate business and data requirements into specifications sufficient for designing appropriate technology solutions
  • Experience with a wide range of methods, tools and techniques for business analysis
  • Experience in structured, object-oriented, and agile methodologies for user requirement assessments
  • Experience developing performance measures for business analysis evaluation and subsequent follow-ups
  • Knowledge and understanding of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA) and related regulations and standards
