Assistant Chief Engineer

Our client is one of the largest industrial linen and laundry service providers in Canada. They are currently seeking an Assistant Chief Engineer to help lead their Maintenance team in their state-of-the-art Calgary facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting and overseeing the maintenance operations and ensuring the smooth functioning of the facility. This is a rewarding opportunity for a motivated individual with progressive experience in production facility maintenance.

Responsibilities
  1. Follow up & maintain the preventative maintenance program for all production equipment.
  2. Maintain and repair all equipment in the plant and building as needed.
  3. Ensure all job requisitions from other departments are completed.
  4. Ensure routine repairs are completed.
  5. Supervision of boiler room shift engineer.
  6. Maintain good communication with all departments and management.
  7. Provide relief in the absence of the Chief Engineer.
  8. Oversee other maintenance staff and delegate work on a daily basis.
  9. Perform any other assigned tasks as requested by Chief Engineer.
Health & Safety
  1. Promote health and safety awareness.
  2. Establish safe work procedures.
  3. Instruct workers in safe work procedures.
  4. Correct unsafe/substandard practices.
  5. Ensure compliance with regulations.
  6. Enforce health and safety rules.
  7. Inspect for hazards.
  8. Investigate all incidents.
  9. Ensure proper maintenance.
  10. Comply with general safety regulations.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Millwright or electrician.
  • Interpersonal skills, team player.
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Ability to analyze, prioritize and multi-task.
  • Exceptional organizational and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to note deficiencies and repair equipment.
  • Ability to problem solve and troubleshoot.
Working Conditions

Schedule: 4 days on, 4 days off. This position is located in a production plant environment and the work requires continual physical effort all day such as lifting heavy machinery parts, climbing, walking, stretching, bending, and pulling.
