As the Pavements Engineering Assistant, you will support our pavement engineering team in various tasks related to the design, analysis, and maintenance of pavements. This role will offer you an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in the field of Pavement and Materials engineering while contributing to the success of our projects. Primary duties include:

Assist in conducting pavement condition surveys and assessments. Collect and analyze data related to pavement materials, thickness, and distress. Assist in the design of pavement rehabilitation and maintenance projects. Support Pavement Engineers in day-to-day construction issues like sinkholes and watermain breaks impacting pavement and preparing briefing notes on such issues. Assist in the preparation of technical reports, drawings, and specifications. Collaborate with project managers and engineers to ensure project objectives are met. Provide support during construction activities, including field inspections and project updates. Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in pavement engineering. Support Pilot projects inspections and performance evaluation. Respond to Aldermanic and public complaints (311) promptly and professionally. Provide technical assistance in other task on as needed basis. Help with Material Compliance Program , compaction report review, material compliance daily dispatch, site inspections etc.

Qualifications

A completed 2 year technical diploma, and at least 5 years of experience including high technical construction material and construction inspection. Prior experience or internships in pavement engineering is preferred. Knowledge of pavement design principles and methodologies is required. Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) is required. A valid Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalent), with no more than 6 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending. Familiarity with pavement materials and testing procedures will be considered an asset. Basic understanding of engineering software such as pavement design software and ARC GIS will be considered asset. Applicants must be eligible for a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) designation. Success in this position requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
