About The Job

We’re looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our small engineering team of five. You'll take charge of the design and development process for our current products, collaborating closely with the manufacturing team to oversee the entire process from design to assembly.

This position could be fully in-person or hybrid (3 days in the office).

About You

You want to work in a small team solving a big problem while helping an underserved community. You love designing and manufacturing mechanical products that closely couple with electrical and software systems. You are detail-oriented and love asking why many times till you understand something from first principles.

What You'll Do

  • Design and prototype new accessories and products (shipping cases, straps, treadmills).
  • Incorporate design feedback from internal departments and customers to optimize products for ease of use, reliability, manufacturability, and cost reduction.
  • Update designs, drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs).
  • Create and maintain design documentation as required by our Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Collaborate with the V&V team and manufacturing to design development and production fixtures.
  • Develop documents for manufacturing, including quality control plans and inspection drawings.
  • Participate in the creation/updating of PFMEA documentation.
  • Assist in crafting service and maintenance plans and instructions.
  • Support the customer support and manufacturing teams in issue resolution.
  • Generate ECs and lead the rollout to production.
  • Research new advances in robotics and their potential application to our designs.
  • Design next-generation products.

Required Skills And Experience

  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience in designing and building electromechanical systems, ideally within a similar design or manufacturing capacity.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, with extensive practical experience.
  • Extensive experience making engineering drawings with correct GD&T which have been used by manufacturers or machine shops.
  • Comprehensive understanding of electromechanical systems.
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills (able to piece together lots of information and condense it to something useful).
  • Interest in exoskeletons.

Nice to Have

  • Experience designing injection molded parts.
  • Experience working on robotics systems.
  • Experience working with Linux.
  • Knowledge of QMS systems and ISO 13485.
