Job Summary  

Reporting to the both the Operations Supervisor and General Forem e n , a s a Journeyman Lineman , you will:  

  • Hold a Red Seal certificate (or equivalent)
  • Perform live line work on overhead and underground electrical distribution lines
  • Ensure safety is adhered to at all times
  • Valid Class "D" driver's license with "Z" endorsement
  • Construction, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of the electrical distribution system, including overhead and underground of various voltages (up to and including 27.6 kV)
  • Erect poles, and associated structures for power lines
  • Build, repair and operate underground cables/ equipment
  • Understand and operate motorized vehicles and equipment; boom trucks
  • Install conductors and associated apparatus
  • Compliance and sign off to the construction verification program. ESA 22:04
  • CVOR checks/logs; track jobs hours for CVOR
  • Work within compliance of the utility work protection code
  • Mentor and/or train Apprentices
  • Identify opportunities to improve business processes and advise supervisor of risks within business processes
  • Active participation in training, daily job planning, tailboard discussions, safety meeting and other safety initiatives
  • Proficient in the use of all tools and equipment associated with the trade
  • Able to work from work orders, specifications, standards and instructions and to interpret prints, sketches and diagrams
  • Strong communicator, excellent interpersonal and customer relations skills
  • A level of physical fitness essential to do the work including the ability to climb and work confidently at heights; and the willingness and ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required
