Job description

The Blue Horizon Hotel seeks an enthusiastic and experienced Reservations Manager to join our team, reporting to Front Office Manager.

We are centrally located in the heart of Robson Street with its wonderful variety of shops and eateries for every taste and budget. Our 215 spacious guest rooms are all corner rooms with 2 walls of windows from the cruciform shape of the hotel. Our guests enjoy spectacular panoramic views of our beautiful city with the English Bay water view being the favourite.

We value delivering excellent guest service experiences, team work, a respectful workplace and consistent processes.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Pleasant telephone manner with the ability to sell the hotel and successfully complete reservation calls
  • Proven skills with Windows, MS Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Strong working knowledge of the local area is an asset
  • Ability to making meaningful connections with guests, and to have a positive impact on their experience
  • A positive and solution-oriented attitude
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Able to multi-task, be efficient, respond quickly, make decisions and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Minimum of 1 year’s hotel reservation experience; Experience on a hotel front desk is an asset

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

The key responsibilities of the Reservations Manager include but are not limited to:

  • Provides superior service for all guest calls; answers internal and external phone promptly, professionally with a friendly greeting
  • Able to explain room rate structure, available rooms, method of payment/guarantee and cancellation policies, facilities and services
  • Enters guest reservation details into PMS
  • Completes duties in an efficient and accurate manner
  • Actions in-house guest requests promptly and accurately by engaging the right department and dispatching requests accordingly
  • Answers guest requests promptly; actions all emails and notifications with a goal of having mailboxes cleared each day
  • Manages guest complaints as needed, and escalates whenever appropriate to appropriate Department Head/Duty Manager
  • Performs Group Room administration responsibilities: communication with the group/tour organizers and tour leaders, inputting rooming lists, setting up billing, receiving payments
  • Maintains professional business confidentiality
