Responsibilities:
  1. Generate concepts for components.
  2. Generate detailed manufacturing design and drawings.
  3. Develop 3D models and drawings using SolidWorks.
  4. Generate standard toolbox libraries for 3D models.
  5. Generate P&ID using CAD software.
  6. Generate engineering Bills of Materials in AX.
  7. Review drawings when assigned.
  8. Improve drawing control procedures and company standard practices.
  9. Control drawings as per company procedures.
  10. Create detailed design of components for IMW products. This includes the generation and review of:
    1. Layout drawings
    2. Manufacturing Drawings
    3. Specification and selection of equipment
    4. Bills of Materials
    5. Work instructions
    6. Manuals
    7. Material requisitions
    8. Design calculations
    9. Generation and control of engineering documents as per company procedures.
  11. Estimate costs when assigned.
  12. May be assigned project engineering responsibilities when required. In this capacity the Mechanical Engineer would coordinate, oversee, check and ensure timely completion of the project tasks.
  13. Coordinate projects when assigned.
  14. Know and understand workplace health and safety rights and responsibilities.
  15. Follow safe work procedures and act safely in the workplace at all times.
  16. Maintain a safe working environment within the department and on each job.
  17. Use the protective clothing, devices, and equipment required for the job.
  18. Complete all applicable quality records.
  19. Perform work in accordance with IMW-documented policies and procedures.
  20. Perform calculations for sizing of process control components, such as piping control valves, relief valves, heat exchangers, regulators, etc.
  21. Perform pressure calculations according to applicable design codes such as ASME B31.3, ASME BPVC, and Pressure Equipment Directive.
  22. Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
  1. Degree in mechanical engineering or similar.
  2. Licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) or enrolled as an Engineer in Training (EIT) in Canada.
  3. Training or experience in ASME codes Section VII Div 1, ANSI B31.3 and CSA B51.2 - 5 years of experience in machine design preferably in reciprocating compressors.
  4. 2 - 5 years of experience in preparing detailed manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
  5. Background in mechanical design of heat exchangers, vessels, piping, and assemblies is an asset.
  6. Experience in assemblies of machines/compressors.
  7. Background in process systems design is an asset.
  8. Ability to communicate effectively with production staff and vendors.
  9. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to ensure information is correctly documented and put into action.
  10. Formal training or experience in Enterprise Resource Planning/Material Requirements Planning Software.
  11. Proficient in MS Office Suite.
  12. Ability to learn new programs as required.
Other:
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to make decisions, give clear and concise directions and to carry them out.
  • Good analytical skills are required to allow computation of engineering design parameters.
