We are looking for an Intermediate to Senior Mechanical or Materials Principal Engineer at our company, a leading supplier of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) equipment for vehicle fueling and industrial applications.

  • Our product range includes compressors, dispensers, storage systems, CNG parts, and technical services.
  • The Principle Engineer will work on Engineering projects, focusing on diaphragm compressor equipment design, performance, quality, and reliability for hydrogen applications.
  • This role involves managing the development of a new hydrogen compressor program, overseeing design engineers internally and externally.
  • The position also includes handling program budgets, progressing through the development phase gate working across two plant locations.

(Reports To): General Manager

SUPERVISES:

  • Directs staff on projects related to hydrogen compressors, including external contractors.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the development of a diaphragm compressor optimized for hydrogen.
  • Develop schedules and program budgets in collaboration with the team.
  • Manage an engineering team of internal and external resources.
  • Follow the product development process.
  • Plan and execute research and development projects.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for critical design and quality issues.
  • Provide technical mentoring to design engineering staff.
  • Perform compressor calculations for equipment components.
  • Communicate complex concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Engage with vendors and customers.
  • Ensure safe, efficient, and compliant product designs.
  • Suggest improvements to current product designs.
  • Ensure compliance with standards and legislation.
  • Understand health and safety regulations.
  • Maintain a safe working environment.
  • Use necessary protective equipment.
  • Complete quality records and follow documented procedures.
  • Other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Mechanical Engineering Degree.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Engineer experienced in diaphragm compressors.
  • 5-10 years of leading product development teams.
  • Knowledge of hydrogen behavior with materials.

Demonstrated experience in:

  • Tribology.
  • Project Management.
  • New product development.
  • Design verification and validation.
  • Development of test protocols.

PHYSICAL:

  • Required to stand, walk, or sit; use hands to operate computers.
  • Use vision and hearing for communication.

LANGUAGE:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Technical writing experience.
  • Italian language proficiency is a plus.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with ERP and MRP software.

OTHER:

  • Ability to analyze and provide solutions.
  • Adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Training in Six Sigma, Kaizen, and Lean Manufacturing is beneficial.
  • Highly motivated, self-directed, and capable of multitasking.

This is a full-time position.
