Vice President & General Manager:
Concord, ON – On-Site


The ideal candidate for this position will possess a solid commercial background with notable sales experience and purchasing. The Vice President and General Manager will employ deep expertise in leadership and will be known for enabling their employee base, communicating expectations, and providing clear deliverables. In addition, the VP & GM will have deep knowledge of metals distribution, metallurgy and/or metals recycling, allowing them to quickly establish themselves as a trusted resource to staff and clients alike. Your financial acumen will also play a part in your success, as will understanding both the sales and procurement of metals and the downstream impact on the bottom line.

Key Responsibilities:

The VP/GM is expected to provide leadership and direction for all other employees.

  • Create, communicate, and implement the organization’s mission.
  • Manage a group of Senior Leaders across sales, marketing, procurement, HR, Operations and Administration.
  • Facilitate open communications, meeting regularly with senior company officials on strategic objectives, operations, and organizational challenges.
  • Work quickly to understand the product(s), supplier, and customer base, establishing yourself as a trusted advisor.
  • Using a set of strategic and defined metrics, evaluate the organization's success and forecast the metrics required for ongoing success. This includes reviewing intangible data and aspects to gauge other relevant aspects of business success.
  • Collaborate with the senior management team to ensure organizational decisions are thoughtful and timely.
  • Leverage the leadership team to propagate ideas and create a shared vision among all employees.
  • Formulate and implement the strategic plan that guides the direction of the business.
  • Maintain full P&L responsibility for the division.
  • Form, staff, guide, lead, and manage an organization: Ensure the organization is sufficient to accomplish the VP/GM’s responsibilities and the business's strategic plan.
  • Oversee the complete operation of an organization by the established strategic plans.
  • Maintain awareness of the external and internal competitive landscape and influence expansion opportunities.
  • Represent the organization with key suppliers, customers, and all other stakeholders courteously and professionally.

 Qualifications:
  • At least 15 years of experience as a senior leader in an industrial sector, ideally Metals Distribution or Recycling.
  • Experience in other industrial sectors is advantageous and would be offered consideration.
  • Able and interested in working in an office/ on-site capacity.
  • Experience with metals distribution, recycling, and similar industries is an asset.
  • Background in Metallurgy, fittings and industrial parts is an asset. 
  • Experience running a full P&L, having complete budgetary oversight, and being able to conduct sound financial analysis.
  • Experience managing a senior-level team and proven ability to work autonomously.
  • Some travel is required.


Education: Background in Business, Engineering or Metallurgy is an asset
