Toys "R" Us Canada, a proud Canadian enterprise, is seeking a full-time Vice President of Finance. Reporting directly to the President, the Vice President will work closely with the President and Owner to shape the financial strategy and operations of the organization. The ideal candidate will possess significant experience in a senior financial role, with a robust background in finance and accounting.

As a vital advisor, the Vice President of Finance serves as a key business partner, providing essential financial insights and advice on all aspects of the finance functions, including strategic business planning, budgeting, forecasting, business analysis, and corporate growth initiatives.

The Vice President will lead and provide strategic direction to the Finance, Technology, Real Estate, Construction, Facilities, and Procurement teams. Their focus will be on the planning, development, and management of these areas while ensuring comprehensive financial reporting and accountability for the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and implement extensive financial strategies to enhance profitability and growth.
  • Oversee and guide the finance team, establishing clear objectives and fostering a collaborative, results-oriented culture.
  • Evaluate the company's financial performance and forecasts concerning profits, trends, costs, and budget compliance, communicating findings with the President, Owner, and Leadership Team.
  • Monitor cash flow schedules on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis to ensure effective management of the organization’s cash flow.
  • Collaborate with the President to manage financial relationships and contracts with vendors and suppliers.
  • Maintain relationships with external auditors, banks, and other financial institutions.
  • Oversee all government reporting, compliance, audit, and regulatory matters related to the financial operations of the business.
  • Lead the Real Estate function, providing expertise and long-term planning on commercial leases and property matters; review and analyze lease terms and negotiations for new stores and renewals.
  • Work with in-house Legal Counsel to oversee major contracts and new program activities, addressing loss and insurance implications, regulatory compliance, and other legal matters.
  • Direct the Facilities and Procurement functions for all non-merchandising products and services nationally to ensure cost efficiency.
  • Manage the Logistics function, including overall strategy, budget, and operational performance, while monitoring the performance of internal and external teams against KPIs and quality metrics.

Qualifications:

  • Designated CPA with over 10 years of proven experience in an executive financial leadership role, ideally as a CFO, with a successful history of enhancing financial performance and growth in the retail sector.
  • Demonstrated expertise in strategic financial planning, analysis, and management within the retail industry.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of corporate finance, financial planning, and financial analysis.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to inspire and motivate teams toward achieving strategic goals.
