The Role

Position: Analyst (Multiple Positions)

Division: Application & Consulting Services

Location: Saskatoon or Regina, SK

The Analyst position develops, designs, tests and implements mainframe applications to support low to medium complexity application software and program specifications. 

This position analyzes customer issues and must have good written communication skills to get to resolution. This position will also develop solutions for specific client/business needs by designing or modifying mainframe applications. Work involves low to moderately complex projects, applications, and assignments. The position may be called upon to plan and schedule projects, and plans own work with concern for related activities. The position may provide technical guidance to staff members.

The position solves problems within framework of technical knowledge and established guidelines. Work is performed under supervision and reviewed upon completion. Tasks of lower complexity may be performed independently.

The Analyst understands customer requirements with direction, executes assignments to meet specifications, and recognizes own contribution to customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

Provide mainframe application system support

Gather and analyze system requirements

Perform Business requirements gathering

Ensure invoicing and tax systems are following regulatory guidelines

Address program Break/fixes within Service Level Agreements and recommend/implement solutions

Participate in regular status meetings with team and with business as required

Designing, writing, testing, installing, and supporting business software and program specifications

Monitoring, evaluating, and suggesting improvements to application, products, etc.

Analyzing and developing solutions/proposals for specific/assigned client/business needs

Completing documentation for all design/development assignments and as required for ServiceNow tickets

Planning, scheduling, and controlling software or business applications projects and assignments

Providing technical guidance and training to other staff and customers

Developing sound knowledge of computer fundamentals; structured analysis, design, and programming techniques; and specific operating systems & environments, and supported products & services in the Systems Operations area

Provide 7x24 on-call / standby support on a rotating basis after experience is gained (approximately 6-9 months)

Other duties as required or assigned


Who You Are

Qualifications:

University Degree, or diploma from a two year program in Computer Science/Data Processing, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.

Some knowledge of computer fundamentals; structured analysis, design, and programming techniques; and current operating systems & environments.

Ability to develop structured programs or procedures.

Ability to research, analyze, and resolve problems.

Good interpersonal organizational, oral and written communication skills.

Ability to work either independently or as part of a team.

Skills and abilities acceptable to the client.

Key Skills & Abilities:

3-5 years of experience with the following is considered an asset:

Mainframe

Natural/Adabas

TSO, CICS, JCL

Application Software Development

Supporting Business Software Applications

Experience with Visual Studio considered an asset

Problem solving ability

Ability to work under pressure and multi-task in a rapid-paced environment

Some knowledge of business systems and/or operating systems

Technical aptitude

Sound project management aptitude and organizational skills
