The Lead, Product Implementation role supports Digital Excellence in Health product teams. They are experts in specific product functionality, clinical workflows, strategic business analysis, as well as requirements elicitation and facilitation. The purpose of the role is to help manage all aspects of the product lifecycle, including the elicitation and management of requirements for product enhancements, support the product roadmap and visioning, support onboarding activities as well as acting as a subject matter expert for all aspects of the product. The Lead will mentor and guide Business Analysts and Specialists within the Product team to support the goals of the program area. The role requires clear communication, both verbal and written, and close working ties with key stakeholders, both internal and external, to ensure that the product remains relevant, effective and efficient.

Here is what you will be doing:

Mentors within the immediate team and across the organization by observing interactions and tactically applying knowledge and skills to ultimately improve the lead time for feature development.

Actively works directly with the team for collaboration, peer support, and to ensure a consistent approach to executing work assignments. Ensures the team's lines of communication remain open and actively seeks feedback to continuously improve team dynamics.

Maintains expertise of their domain via interactions with external stakeholders and government organizations which would in turn be transferred to the cross-functional teams and other product teams in the organization.

Acts independently with a low level of supervision and determines when to escalate broader impacting decisions to management.

Collaborates with external stakeholders and government agencies.

Identifies interpersonal relationship difficulties and helps team members and other department team members transition though difficult situations.

Leads major product initiatives and other cross-functional teams in delivery of projects.

Develops and takes responsibility for own workload and roadmap for a specific product in collaboration with cross-functional teams across Ontario Health. Jointly accountable for the quality of the products and services delivered to customers.

Assists with the development and identification of product synergies to ensure swift delivery across multiple product portfolios within the organization and provincially.

Develops the best user experiences possible.

Engages with clients, both internally and externally, to gain a deeper understanding of their product domain and actively listen to their clients to understand their needs.

Designs, develops, and leads user research to gain a deeper understanding of the client's needs utilizing multiple products across Ontario Health to deliver on client needs.

Initiates and champions change by actively looking for opportunities for improvement across team practices as well as external team practices to improve the product and the team's efficiency.

Leads and implements the change within the product, across the team, as well as other product teams and external product teams.

Anticipates project bottlenecks and blockers in short term and long-term product roadmaps across the organization and not just their immediate department. Works with multiple departments across divisions to overcome these challenges.

Independently engages and actively participates in team discussion with other internal and external product management teams to recommend product features and changes to product features to improve the user experience, operation and maintainability of the product.

Creates new Ontario Health business paradigms including new processes and tools.

Provides excellent service to internal and external clients by discovering and meeting their needs and building and maintaining positive and effective working relationships.

Leads by example, demonstrating integrity, creativity, and enthusiasm in achieving results directly.

Creates and maintains the product vision and product roadmap.

Maintains a thorough understanding of the product and its logical architecture, policy, procedures, and standards.

Synthesizes the product vision and high-level business requirements into functional user requirements.

Conducts research on software and hardware products to justify recommendations and to support purchasing efforts.

Provides application specific expertise and knowledge about the architecture and the direction of the business in order to collaborate in writing RFPs and feasibility studies.

Leads sprint planning sessions to clarify the details of the sprint items and provides clear and concise acceptance criteria for user stories.

Acts as the authoritative source for all requirements.

Elicits requirements using a variety of formats and techniques including interviews, document analysis, workshops, storyboards, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, event lists and competitive product analysis.

Leads requirements analysis and verification ensuring that requirement statements are complete, consistent, concise, comprehensible, feasible, unambiguous, and verifiable.

Documents Non-Functional requirements such as security, privacy, legal and maintainability.

Conducts impact analysis for the product on internal and external stakeholders and systems; including communication plan to ensure buy-in and awareness of the product release.

Collaborates with the Dev, QA, and UX Design teams in an agile fashion.

Here is what you will need to be successful:

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Health-related fields, Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline, or equivalent experience

7 – 10 years of experience in Product Management and software development in an agile environment, owning and managing product catalog, roadmap, and releases in a matrixed environment

Certified Scrum Product Owner and Scrum Master designation is an asset.

Experience with formal requirements elicitation, analysis techniques, process design, re-engineering, and implementation.

Advanced knowledge of documentation tooling such as Confluence Wiki or similar tools.

Advanced knowledge of JIRA or similar bug tracking tools.

Advanced knowledge of project delivery practices in a matrix environment.

Excellent knowledge of Process Mapping Techniques.

Excellent Knowledge of SDLC.

Experience with complex healthcare integration projects considered is an asset.

Knowledge of user centric design and innovation.

Expert Knowledge of Business Domain specific to their product area and expert knowledge of business domain in other product areas.

Experience with Ontario health systems and landscape, including knowledge and experience with the Ontario electronic health record implementations and use.

Expertise and in-depth knowledge of healthcare systems, HL7/FHIR, XML messaging principles, techniques and technologies is required.

Familiarity with AZURE, AWS or other Cloud technology is an asset.

Knowledge and Skills

Expert problem solving and analytical skills to conduct impact analysis for the product, lead requirements analysis and verification, conduct research to justify recommendations, identify of product synergies to ensure swift delivery, overcome challenges to bottlenecks and blockers.

Strong communications skills, both orally and in writing to engage with internal and external clients to gain a deeper understanding of their product domain, engage and actively participate in team discussion, develop communication plans to ensure buy-in and awareness of the product release, write RFPs and feasibility studies.

Strong interpersonal, fact finding and interviewing skills to interact within product/project teams, cross-portfolio interaction, cross-organization, external senior level stakeholder interaction and senior ministry stakeholders.

Ability to apply specific agile practices to certain scenarios demonstrating Ri level Agile Mastery.

Ability to manage simultaneous projects from initiation to completion.

Excellent organizational and multitasking skills and the ability to quickly shift priorities and adapt to changes to meet organizational and department requirements.
