Job Description

Renesas is seeking an experienced and dynamic Application Engineering Senior Manager to join our Automotive High Performance Compute (HPC) team. This role is pivotal in driving embedded system solutions and providing technical customer support for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), Autonomous Driving (AD), and Software-Defined Vehicles (SDV) within our SOC automotive product line. This high-impact position offers a unique opportunity to take on a leadership role, collaborating with global teams in SOC design, software development, system architecture, and product marketing. Key Responsibilities:

  • Optimize System Performance: Master complex automotive embedded systems architecture, including multiple OSs (Linux, QNX), real-time OS (RTOS), functional safety standards (ISO26262), and system-on-chip (SoC) with heterogeneous compute architecture.
  • Collaborate and Innovate: Work closely with FAEs and key customers (Tier1 and OEMs) to analyze technical issues and requirements, ensuring our system solutions meet key performance needs.
  • Lead and Drive: Lead the application engineering team to profile, analyze, and optimize system performance for automotive ADAS/AD systems on R-Car platforms.
  • Enable Use-Cases and Benchmarks: Develop and benchmark new system use-cases on R-Car platforms, working with multiple hardware and software teams.
  • Analyze Performance KPIs: Focus on ADAS/AD system use-cases such as Front Camera, Surround View, Parking, and Driver Monitoring Systems.
  • Troubleshoot and Resolve: Collaborate with marketing, system architecture, field sales/FAE, and SW & HW design teams to identify and resolve performance issues, leading deep-dive debugging sessions.
  • Develop Proof of Concept: Work with partners, global teams, and customers to develop state-of-the-art proof of concept projects.
  • Support Field Teams: Provide support to field teams to generate opportunities and facilitate design-ins.
  • Strategic Support: Assist senior leadership in driving improvements for automotive customers.

Qualifications
  • Experience: 10+ years in automotive embedded ADAS/AD systems application engineering.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, Java, and Python, with extensive experience in debugging techniques.
  • Leadership: Strong ownership and leadership skills, capable of managing diverse global teams.
  • Embedded Systems: Experience with embedded platforms, including low-level firmware, kernel, and user-space components, as well as ARMs, GPUs, ISPs, CNNs, and specialized hardware accelerators in embedded SoC systems.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to meet customer expectations.
  • Continuous Improvement: Commitment to continual improvement in work policies and methodologies.
  • Strategic Collaboration: Ability to collaborate with senior leadership to develop team objectives aligned with broader company strategy.
