ABOUT THE ROLE

The Manager, Accounting will effectively oversee the day-to-day operation of the Accounts Payable Team by continuously providing mentoring, guidance, training and operational support. The position requires the incumbent to work with and support team members of the broader Finance department and provide senior management with information and analytics to make key decisions.

**Please note this will be an office role reporting out of the Aurora Corporate Head Office**

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support monthly financial reporting for senior management and preparation, analysis, and review of GL account reconciliations and variance analysis.
  • Assistance with initial preparation, review and subsequent monitoring of annual budgets.
  • Preparation and review of year end audit working papers.
  • Oversee all core accounting processes including A/R and AP functions, beverage deposit remittances, expense reporting & government remittances.
  • Subject Matter Expert (“SME”) responsible for providing support on the ERP system on an ongoing basis and for upgrades.
  • SME responsible for providing support with the automated P2P system on an ongoing basis, and testing and identifying process improvements with regards to the system. Undertake additional projects and tasks as required
  • Act as liaison and department representative with the following groups:
    • Other departments in relation to the processing of transactions, the monitoring of budgets, expense report matters, and resolution of ERP/P2P issues.
  • Franchisees on enquiries related to invoices and credits.
  • Vendors and other departments on matters related to vendor payments and credits.
  • Effective use of ERP, P2P, Microsoft Excel and other accounting systems, maximizing productivity and ensuring timelines are met.
  • Assist direct reports and other team members in investigating and resolving issues.
  • Troubleshoot issues in a timely and accurate manner with intent to resolve; escalate issues to senior management as required.
  • Must have exceptional awareness to risk sensitivity, and strong planning, strategic, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Aptitude to work autonomously as well as a team player, ability to work well under pressure, prioritize conflicting demands, and meet deadlines .
  • Must entail strong interpersonal skills, ability to build collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Must entail excellent leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Conduct financial analysis to determine best practices and provide senior management with reports, as required.
  • Other duties and tasks as required by management .

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in accounting or related field
  • Chartered Professional Accountant Designation (CPA) an asset
  • 8 - 10 years general accounting and AP experience
  • 1-3 years experience supervising, leading or managing a finance team
  • Intermediate knowledge of Excel
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics (NAV) and automated P2P systems an asset
  • 8 - 10 years experience applying effective interpersonal skills
  • 8 - 10 years experience using flexibility, initiative, good judgment and discretion with pride of ownership over assigned responsibilities
  • 8 – 10 years working experience applying time management, sound judgement and problem-solving skills
  • Must have exceptional awareness to risk sensitivity, and strong planning, strategic, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to display initiative, integrity, and strong attention to detail and accuracy .
  • Fluent in English: written and verbal communication skills
