ABOUT THE POSITION

The Sales Consultant/Finance Manager interacts with potential customers to understand their purchase and vehicle preferences, demonstrate comfort and convenience features, facilitate test drives, and assist with the financing and upgrade options, as well as the accurate completion of the paperwork required to complete the sale.

This role strives to meet monthly sales and finance targets by following a daily work plan that focuses their attention on sales-generating activity and providing excellent customer service from initial contact to final delivery. The primary function of the Sales Consultant/Finance Manager is to make customers feel welcome and supported throughout the car-purchasing process. This will ensure the customer is satisfied and will continue to use the dealership for their future car buying needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Greet and assist customers entering the showroom floor, presenting a professional environment that supports automotive sales while ensuring customer satisfaction
  • Present used and new cars through test drives, demonstrations, and dealership walk-throughs
  • Leverage negotiation skills without compromising customer satisfaction to carry out the sales process following dealership standards and policies
  • Send emails and make calls to prospective buyers in an effort to ensure that your daily calendar has the necessary amount of customer appointments to guarantee that productivity goals are being met
  • Explain and demonstrate financial options to customers
  • Deal directly with lenders and financial institutes
  • Prepare and document any/all documentation for final delivery
  • Meet and excel set sales goals by selling extended products such as protection packages, extended warranties, life and accident/health insurance, and environmental protection packages
  • Adhere to a standard of professional ethics and be respectful to customers
  • Be knowledgeable of provincial regulations regarding finance and the fair credit reporting act
  • Interact with appropriate departments
  • Structure deals in accordance with lender and dealership guidelines
  • Book out deals accurately
  • Perform credit interview, prepare credit application
  • Verify accuracy of all information on the credit application and submit to lender
  • Maintain confidentiality of customer information
  • Sell credit insurance and service contracts
  • Maintain good lender relations
  • Maintain a lender guide of programs currently in use and obtain a working knowledge of them
  • Analyze credit reports, be able to recognize a conventional deal and turn over accordingly
  • Maintain dead files for inactive deals
  • Overcome objections of prospective customers

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3-5 years’ experience in the Automotive business, preferably in sales/finance
  • Excellent understanding of sales, finance and management
  • Experience and working relationship with financial institutions
  • Valid OMVIC certification is required for this role
  • Efficient knowledge of word processing software, spreadsheet software, e-mail software and use of the Internet
  • Ability to read, understand and calculate banking figures such as discounts, interest rates, percentages and commission etc.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older to meet insurance requirements for operating a motor vehicle
  • You must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • A valid Ontario driver’s license and clean driving record is required
  • Must submit to and adequately pass a pre-employment background and MVR screen prior to employment
  • Open availability to workdays, evenings, weekends, and some holidays knowing that employees are required to stay until the customer’s purchase is complete and their satisfaction ensured
  • High school diploma or equivalent required, bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Valid OMVIC Certification
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, which includes standing, sitting, walking, bending, crouching, reaching, lifting, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to construct emails and messages in a professional and inviting manner
  • Has the competitive spirit, drive, outgoing personality, consistency, and resilience to meet monthly sales objectives while following a daily work plan
