Role: Payroll and System Specialist
Location: Guelph, ON
Contract length: 5-month contract
Wage: $33.14-$38.98/hr depending on skill and experience.
Schedule: Part time; 3 days/week. Week 1 is Wednesday – Friday and Week 2 is Monday – Wednesday. 8:30am – 4:30pm or 9:00am – 5:00pm.

*Possessing Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification is a requirement - no exceptions.*

Main Duties:

  • Process full cycle payroll, bi-weekly and monthly payroll, as well as benefits and pension programs.
  • Track leaves of absences, terminations, and new hires.
  • Accounts reconciliation, payroll year-end, audits, and related activities.
  • Maintain and reconcile year-to-date information.
  • Prepare and reconcile all payroll reports, including journal entries, cost centre information, time and attendance, etc. to ensure correct internal reporting.
  • Review and reconcile third-party vendor billings on a monthly basis (EI, CPP, income tax, benefits premiums, pension contributions, etc.).
  • Respond to employee and manager payroll and benefits inquiries.
  • Work with system vendor to identify and resolve system issues or concerns related to the processing of payroll.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma in a business-related field or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification.
  • Proven experience in payroll cycle, including year-end and audit.
  • Extensive knowledge in payroll systems and HRIS applications (experience with UKG’s UKG Pro preferred).
  • Advanced knowledge of Word and Excel.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Self-starter.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and analytical thinking.
