Reports directly to the General Manager of Underground, the Underground Superintendent is responsible for the supervision of the daily operations of the Underground department field staff and foremen.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Review job file and become familiar with original estimates, plans and specifications.
  2. Responsible for allocating resources to meet construction schedule and completing projects on time and on budget.
  3. Update coordinating on scheduling.
  4. Train, mentor, and develop direct reports to build a strong team including utilizing the bi-annual performance review.
  5. In conjunction with Foreman, direct the work required to complete the project.
  6. Ensure that company tools and support equipment are properly requisitioned to job sites, kept in good repair and returned when no longer needed on-site.
  7. Attend project closeout meetings to ensure successful completion of projects.
  8. Document all pertinent project information, including weather, site conditions, employee issues, conversations with inspectors, owners representatives and consultant representatives, and changes in scope.
  9. Review grade sheets for accuracy.
  10. Ensure that all materials are ordered with purchase orders or requisitions for materials/supplies from suppliers, parts room, yard and warehouse.
  11. Coordinate with the Project Manager for document inspections on completed work, including prime/owner/consultants sign off.
  12. Review and approve electronic timesheets submitted by Foreman daily.
  13. Behave in a manner that ensures the safety of themselves, their co-workers and others on the work sites.
  14. Report incidents and near misses and participate in the investigative process.
  15. Assist other employees when required.
  16. Attend and participate in toolbox and safety committee meetings as scheduled.
  17. Adhere to company policies, procedures, and directions regarding standards of workplace behaviour in completing job duties and assignments.
  18. Comply with the standards and procedures of our health and safety manual and Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  1. A minimum of 5 years of Underground utilities installation, supervisory experience as General Foreman or Superintendent.
  2. Ability to read and understand blueprints, specifications, schedules and cost reports.
  3. Thorough understanding of construction procedure and safety practices.
  4. Extensive knowledge of proper equipment utilization, operation, and maintenance.
  5. Construction Safety Training System (CSTS) Certification.
  6. Ground Disturbance.
  7. Valid First Aid.
  8. Taken LSE, Prime Contracting and PHISM.
  9. Self-motivating and able to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
  10. Understand and follow verbal and written directions.
  11. Strong work ethic with demonstrated dedication and reliability.
  12. Problem-solving and decision making capabilities.
  13. Must be able to work as a member of a greater team.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $135,000.00 per year
