Role Description:

Arcadis is seeking a talented Senior Civil Engineer for our Mobility Engineering practice. Based in our Waterloo region office, the successful candidate will have a strong background in Municipal infrastructure planning and transportation design. This opportunity will be founded on the utilization of skills in leadership and mentoring staff, collaborating with team members, business development and client interaction across Ontario. As an Associate - Manager, Municipal Engineering, you will be expected to assist in growing and expanding the business and maintaining harmonious relationships with existing and new clients throughout the province and potentially beyond, where beneficial opportunities exist and align with Arcadis goals. This is an ideal opportunity for someone eager to take their experience and responsibilities to the next level and have a deeper and impactful role as a strategic member of the practice at Arcadis.

Working with our Design and Engineering teams, you'll create some of the world’s most iconic and ground-breaking transportation facilities and spaces that transform the world around us, from making journeys easier to opening up public places that bring people together.

We partner with our clients across the globe to design thriving and connected cities and communities that enable opportunity for all and keep the world moving. Climate change, urbanization and digitization trends are requiring today’s mobility projects and systems to address an evolving set of demands from the world’s growing population. We design connected, sustainable solutions that integrate existing infrastructure with new technologies, and optimize the mobility of people and goods.

Role Accountabilities:

  • To function as a Group Manager for a small but growing municipal design engineering group and as Project Manager/ Senior Project Manager on civil infrastructure projects with focus on detailed design for municipal infrastructure and municipal transportation facilities
  • Prepare designs and contract specifications for a wide variety of projects
  • Manage staff productivity and utilization
  • Mentor staff and project teams
  • Supervise staff and participate directly in the completion of projects
  • Foster a spirit of enthusiasm and client focus
  • Lead and direct business development activities primarily in the Waterloo Region area including preparation of proposals and statement of qualifications
  • Participate in and/or lead project coordination between other design disciplines, management of project schedule and budget
  • Client liaison and business development
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s University Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
  • At least 10+ years of Civil Engineering experience in the consulting services industry including roles with management and business development responsibilities
  • P.Eng. (Eligible for Membership with PEO) is required
  • Experience with all aspects of preliminary and detailed design of linear infrastructure and municipal roadways
  • Familiarity with the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process an asset
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, MicroStation, InRoads and Civil3D an asset
  • Familiarity with Southern Ontario and Waterloo Regionarea market conditions, and more specifically the public and private sector client base in and around the Waterloo Region area
  • Ability and desire to work independently as well as in groups with a demonstrated ability to manage projects, project teams, and clients
  • Excellent technical understanding and strongverbal and written communication skills are expected
  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic with a strong desire to succeed in an established teamwork environment
  • Keen analytical and decision-making skills, with commitment to excellence and high-quality work
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office,remote communications tools, collaboration tools and applications including SharePoint and the full suite of Microsoft Office products including Microsoft 365
