Reporting to the Director, Cyber Security Governance, the Senior Cyber Security Governance Analyst is responsible for advancing company-wide, multi-jurisdictional cyber security governance, risk and compliance assessments and testing programs. This is a key business role managing the security initiatives and projects from the Emera cyber programs in support of business objectives and will work closely with senior leadership across a large, diverse, and complex organization providing proactive and reliable counsel on all privacy and security matters. Key elements of this role include:
- Supporting the development of the technical requirements for the operating company cybersecurity assessment plan.
- Reporting on affiliates technical debts or technical obstacles preventing them to meet the Cyber Security Framework requirements.
- Documenting cybersecurity reference architectures meeting the Emera Cybersecurity Framework objectives.
- Supporting the threat intelligence communication between affiliates.
- Disseminating the information in coordination with Emera Incident Responder as required.
- Following-up on the evolution of the threat and technical questions from the operating companies ensuring technical remediations are implemented.
- Continuously assess the efficacy of current cyber security controls and mitigation activities across operating companies.
- Gathering and dissemination of the results of the various operating companies security assessments (including continuous external surface management) while socializing the remediation activities across between teams.
- Provision of consistent and methodical reporting and observations for the development of Emera executive reporting. This will include maintenance of the Emera Incident Response playbook ensuring a technical response can be provided to current and emerging threats.
- Maintain current knowledge on industry trends and emerging techniques and tactics used by cybercriminals to gain systems access.
These skills will make you successful:
The ideal candidate is an experienced cyber security professional with a degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Information Management Systems, or related field. You are certified in Information Security Systems and have a minimum of 5 years progressive cyber security experience in the areas of Information Security operations, Cyber Risk Management or cyber security consulting.
Beyond technical experience the role requires a professional approach with the ability to effectively balance long term strategic objectives with short term functional priorities, ensuring issues are resolved in a timely manner under tight reporting deadlines. Also required is the ability to communicate complex analytics and information in a clear and concise manner engage others with new ideas and approaches. Additionally important to success in the role is an appreciation of project management and change management methodologies and a continuous improvement mindset and a focus on achieving results.
Skills, Capabilities and Experience
- Demonstrated ability to effectively influence decision-makers, technology staff and business management.
- Risk management experience with proven ability to effectively apply risk principles to challenging business situations.
- Strong knowledge of NIST CSF and NERC CIP.
- Strong understanding and working knowledge of cyber risk and challenges inherent to Operational Technologies in Critical infrastructure.
- Strong understanding and working knowledge of Secure Cloud configuration and Architecture.
- Ability to establish organizational performance measures/metrics that ensure accountability, evaluation, and continuous improvement.
- Knowledge and experience of Cyber Incident Response processes.
