RST Industries is a recognized leader in safe, efficient tank transportation specializing in the transport of chemicals, petroleum, and black product throughout Atlantic Canada, Ontario, Quebec, and the eastern United States. In addition to delivering bulk products in line with top-tier industry standards, RST also provides emergency response and training services throughout Atlantic Canada. We are currently seeking an Insurance and Disability Claims Specialist based in Saint John, New Brunswick.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The purpose of this role is to execute and oversee the Insurance claims and work-related disability claims for two trucking organizations. For all Insurance incidents and claims, this role coordinates the collection of investigations documents, reviews claims to ensure that billing requirements are efficiently managed, answers inquiries, and makes recommendations for resolution. For all work-related disability, this role is responsible for the initial setup of new disability case files and conducting appropriate follow-up with workers to manage return to work programs as well as communicate with Irving Health Services Disability Management and other service providers. Specific responsibilities include:
- Insurance Program Management: Central point of contact for all Insurance (Property, Casualty, Cargo and Third Party) events from initial collection of information to cost control, claims accounting, and daily management of the claims handling processes through to file closure. Working with company-owned assets and Owner Operator owned assets.
- Operations Management Support: Meet with Operations leaders regularly to report on current program results and claims status. Manage monthly Key Performance Indicators. Coordinate Incident Review Committee as needed to determine incident preventability.
- Subject Matter Expert (SME): Resource to employees, management, and Owner Operators. Communicate with Third Parties including government agencies, consultants, and insurance providers.
- Incident and Injury Prevention: Root cause investigations and document facilitation. Using Intelex system for investigation records (Injury) and Riskonnect system for insurance claims. Facilitate trend analysis for prevention initiatives to be handed off to the company safety teams.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- Canadian Risk Manager (CRM) certification or similar is an asset.
- 2-5 years work experience; experience in Transportation & Logistics or Insurance claims (Property and Casualty) preferred.
- Broad knowledge of the transportation and logistics sector is preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers. Bilingual in French is an asset.
- Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
- Self-motivated with a high degree of organizational and planning skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel if required.
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ACA and other federal, provincial, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to drive a passenger vehicle.
- Must be able to talk, listen, and speak clearly on the telephone.
