Manager, Patient, Clinician and Industry Engagement

Status: Full time, indefinite

Closing date: July 2, 2024

Salary range: $ 110,000 to $137,000 per year

CADTH is now Canada’s Drug Agency — a pan-Canadian health organization. We are an independent, not-for-profit organization headquartered in Ottawa, with a satellite office in Toronto. Created and funded by Canada’s federal, provincial, and territorial governments, we drive better coordination, alignment, and public value within Canada’s drug and health technology landscape. We provide Canada’s health system leaders with independent evidence and advice so they can make informed drug, health technology, and health system decisions, and we collaborate with national and international partners to enhance our collective impact.

We are proud to be a 2024 National Capital Region Top Employer. This recognition celebrates our dedication to fostering a work environment that nurtures growth; innovation; and inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility (IDEA). It reaffirms our ongoing efforts to create an outstanding workplace where our employees thrive and feel valued.

Most of our employees participate in a hybrid workspace arrangement that allows for flexibility and enhanced work-life balance. We believe in the positive impact of in-person collaboration and the importance of team building. Added consideration is given to qualified candidates who live near our offices and can participate in a hybrid arrangement. Those applying must be located in Ontario, except in rare circumstances where the employment position is remote.

Primary Focus

The Manager, Patient, Clinician, and Industry Engagement, through strong leadership and a collaborative approach, oversees and enables a team of professionals responsible for leading, advising, coordinating, documenting and reporting on the organization’s partner engagement. Through thoughtful engagement with clinicians, patients, caregivers, community (persons with lived and living experience), industry and the associations that represent them, the Manager ensures these partners are informed and involved in the work of the organization with their input and perspectives included in the evidence products, services and recommendations.

The Manager sparks and encourages continuous growth in this area and provides related guidance to other teams to improve our partner relationships and the quality, relevance and significance of the evidence provided to inform drug and health technology decisions in Canada’s jurisdictions and health systems.

  • foster an internal culture of purpose-focused planning and engagement, including multigroup and perspective dialogue and consultations
  • monitor and assess the effectiveness of engagement activities, support and process with affected and interested patients, clinicians and industry groups, and contributing partners, ensuring a holistic approach that instills IDEA as a guiding principle
  • monitor national and international developments related to patient, community, public, clinician, and industry engagement in health technology assessment (HTA) to identify and communicate internally any changes, challenges and opportunities for consideration in evolving the organization’s engagement
  • where and when appropriate, engage and network with international HTA groups and associations to gather insight into good practice in the patient and clinician industry and association engagement
  • participate in the annual business planning process and critical core operational planning for patient, clinician and industry engagement, ensuring appropriate reporting on progress including any data analytics requirements while effectively managing and prioritizing the team’s workload and budget.
