Job Description:
Salary Range for CEF - Senior RRT (.5 FTE): $42.24 - $54.87
Salary Range for RRT (.5FTE): $38.35 - $53.28
This unique role combines clinical education with direct patient care responsibilities. This multifaceted role offers an exciting opportunity for an individual passionate about both educating healthcare professionals and delivering high-quality respiratory care to patients. This role reports to both the Professional Practice Manager for the Clinical Education portion of their role and to the RRT Manager for the patient care portion. Time will be equally split between the two functions.
The Senior Respiratory Therapist will use adult learning principles to develop educational plans and programs in response to individual, unit or program learning needs. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: education, consultation, clinical leadership and research for the purposes of improving service care and delivery. The successful incumbent possesses outstanding communication and partnership skills and collaborates with managers to identify competencies relevant to job performance; and facilitates initiatives in alignment with organization, program and unit strategic priorities
The Senior Respiratory Therapist participates and collaborates with cross functional and multidisciplinary stakeholders in the development of standards, policies and procedures to drive exceptional patient care and service delivery by critically analyzing and advocating evidence-informed practices. The physical demands of the role may include but are not limited to prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing and pulling. This position contributes to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.
The Respiratory Therapist is an integral members of critical care and general clinical practice teams. Responsibilities include but are not limited to initiation and maintenance of adult, pediatric and neonatal mechanical ventilation (conventional and non-invasive), ABG collection, radial arterial line insertions, bronchoscopy assistance and critical care transports of patients to tertiary care centers. RRT's are members of the cardiac arrest team, provide support to the OR's through anaesthetic gas machine checks, and perform ECG's. The physical demands of the job may include but are not limited to prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, pulling and lifting. This position contributes to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.

Skills and Qualifications:
Successful completion of a recognized Respiratory Therapy Program; completion of a Bachelors Degree in a related field preferred
Clinical Educator certificate required
Current membership in good standing with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists and Respiratory Therapy Society of Ontario
Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers course: BLS-HCP(C) Certificate required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certificate required, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred
Demonstrated leadership, teaching, coaching, and mentorship
Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience as a Respiratory Therapist, with demonstrated proficiency in adult and pediatric respiratory care.
Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT) training is an asset
Interprets and foresees the implications of impending legislation, professional standards and guidelines from government and professional bodies. In collaboration with team members, develops, reviews or updates discipline specific policies and procedures.
Acts as community liaison for discipline specific College and professional associations including the coordination of student mentorship programs.
Must be an extremely motivated individual, with the ability to work independently and in a team environment
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and meet workload requirements
Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis is required
