Aecon’s Major Projects East division is hiring a Quality Control Manager for a project assignment. The QC Manager will be responsible for the development and implementation of quality management systems and procedures.

What You’ll Do Here:

1. To support Project Site Team on all matters pertaining to quality
2. Coordinate activities of the Quality Team
3. Planning, establishing, documenting, and maintaining the QMP
4. Directing the performance of internal and external quality audits including audits and assessments conducted on suppliers
5. Verification of procurement documents procured items and services for construction and installation work
6. Indoctrination and training of quality personnel
7. Maintaining qualification records of QA & QC personnel on file
8. Assist with the selection and assignment of Project Quality Personnel to ensure they are trained, qualified, competent, and where required certified to perform the assigned functions
9. To ensure quality personnel have reviewed contract details pertaining to technical and quality requirements
10. Evaluating and selecting suppliers and subcontractors
11. Reviewing and accepting of customer free issue items and supporting documentation
12. Provide assistance to Project Management related to matters involving Project Quality
13. The quality manager shall have defined authority for ensuring the establishment and maintenance of the Quality Management System and auditing and reporting on the status of, and compliance with the Quality Management System
14. Be independent of the Design-Builder’s Site/production management team and have full access to all quality documentation described in the Quality Management System held with Design-Builder Parties
15. Developing, implementing and maintaining, and ensuring the effective operation of, the Quality Management System
16. Initiating management reviews, not less frequently than annually, and taking other actions necessary to ensure the effective operation and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System
17. Preparing Quality Audit Plans and scheduling and coordinating Internal Quality Audits and External Quality Audits of key processes with the relevant Design-Builder Parties
18. Ensuring that all Quality Audits required under the Quality Documentation are conducted, and reporting the findings of such audits to the client
19. Authority to immediately stop any work or activity which is not being performed or carried out in accordance with the Quality Documentation applicable
20. Liaising with client and acting as the primary representative for the Design-Builder on all matters relating to quality management
21. Coordinating all activities that demonstrate to Design-Builder and client that the Quality Management System meets the requirements
22. Preparing and submitting monthly Quality Management System reports
23. Ensuring that relevant Quality Records are retained in accordance with the Quality Management System and the requirements
24. Developing and implementing a program for Disposition and Corrective Action for Non-Conformances
25. Approve and sign off on the action taken for closure of Non-Conformance Reports

What You Bring to the Team:

1. Certified Engineering Technologist registered in the Province of Ontario or equivalent education and training
2. Minimum 15 years’ experience working in infrastructure construction
3. 7+ years’ experience working as a QC Manager preferred
4. Must be certified as an internal or lead auditor to ISO 9001:2015
5. Previous experience in Canadian and International Standards
6. Bridge, roads, transit and highways construction experience preferred
7. Knowledge of Total Quality Management and methodologies
8. Be a certified ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor or have experience in a similar quality management role for a transit project
9. Energetic, detail-oriented and able to prioritize and manage a multi-task workload
10. Strong aptitude for quality assurance
11. Excellent ability to clearly explain advanced technical issues in manner that is easily understood
12. Strong sense of personal responsibility and accountability for delivering high quality work
13. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing
14. Ability to work well both independently and on teams
15. Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office suite
