Procurement Manager

Horizon Recruitment Inc. is currently seeking a Procurement Manager for one of our industrial manufacturing clients. The Procurement Manager is responsible for leading the division in development of clear category strategies and processes. This role will help to develop, implement, and monitor processes to optimize the supply chain and material processes. This individual will also take a lead role in interfacing with the supply base and leveraging relationships for continuous improvement of inventory velocity and product costing.Responsibilities include:Manage and develop the purchasing function for the companyManage inventory and warehousing activityDevelop and maintain purchasing policy and proceduresBuild positive relationships with both internal and external customersAdd value through your ability to understand and refine business processesManage Supplier relationships and occasionally participate in broader discussions with key strategic suppliers.Ensure all purchasing activities support and strengthen the strategic objectives of the overall organizationDevelop strategies and action plans for newly identified opportunitiesWork on projects and/or assignments as required, using approved guidelinesQualifications:Post-Secondary Degree requiredExperience in a heavy industrial manufacturing settingStrong understanding of supplier management techniquesMinimum of 5 years of in-depth supply chain experienceAbility to independently assess, define, and solve complex supply chain and procurement issuesExperience in supplier and market analysisCross-functional team experienceAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of changing situationsProficiency with Microsoft Office tools & ERP Systems (SAP preferred)Excellent organization, time management, and follow-up skillsAbility to take initiative and exercise excellent judgmentSelf-motivated, enjoys challenges and working in a fast-paced environment
