Your Opportunity:

Pharmacy Assistants work in a team under the direct supervision of Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacists working to their full scope of practice. Under limited supervision of the Operations Manager, Pharmacy Assistants perform essential and core duties on behalf of our Pharmacy Services Program related to medication services including, but not limited to: medication selection and quantity replenishment to established quotas in a timely manner, transport and delivery to care unit and departments, repackage and label for final check by Regulated Healthcare Professionals, debit and credit inventory including controlled substances according to procedure, rotate inventory to minimize outdated medications, order and receive both supplies and medications, demonstrating professionalism and respectful behavior that maintains collaboration and communication in the work environment, and clerical duties as assigned. Perform routine physical cleaning and maintenance on pharmacy equipment, maintaining a safe and tidy workspace. Prepare reports from pharmacy systems including filing associated with all duties. Communicates unit-based and clinical issues to Regulated Pharmacy staff for resolution. Participates in hospital, departmental and/or quality assurance activities to ensure standards are maintained. Description:

As a Pharmacy Assistant, you will be responsible for the packaging, distributing, shipping medications and the management and replenishment of medication inventory levels under the general supervision of Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Recent hospital pharmacy experience, knowledge of Pharmacy terms and medication names, experience with EPIC (Willow Pharmacy) and Windows-based software. Basic knowledge of inventory control including minimizing outdated medications. Graduate of a recognized pharmacy assistant program and/or recent retail pharmacy experience acceptable to the employer may be considered. Must be fluent in the English language (written and verbal). Must be able to type (40 words per minute desired). Excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills are required. Must be able to follow oral and written instructions. Good organizational, time management, problem solving and decision-making ability. Must display tact, courtesy, discretion and respect confidentiality. Must be able to perform tasks and work: under direct supervision, accepting of constructive criticism, be accurate, punctual, reliable, co-operative, able to demonstrate effective service attitude, and self-motivated to consider existing processes that better serve patient care. Must be able to work both independently and co-operatively in a team environment. Must be able to adaptable to learn and perform efficiently with computer new technologies, software and changing workflow patterns. Must be in good physical condition as majority of shift involves: typing, static positions, heavy lifting, standing, crouching, bending, pushing, pulling, kneeling, walking and standing for extended periods of time.

Preferred Qualifications:

1+ yr: experience in rural hospital pharmacy supporting remote sites, EPIC trained & experience, Omnicell Automated Dispensing Cabinets, experience inventory management including controlled substances and repackaging.
