Your Role:
As a Medication Distribution Specialist, you will collaborate within a dedicated team under the guidance of Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacists, ensuring the effective operation of our Pharmaceutical Services Program.

You will demonstrate professionalism and foster respectful communication within the workplace while performing clerical tasks as assigned.
Maintain a clean and organized workspace by performing routine cleaning and maintenance on pharmacy equipment. Prepare reports utilizing pharmacy systems and manage filing associated with your duties. Communicate unit-based and clinical concerns to licensed pharmacy staff for resolution. Engage in hospital, departmental, and/or quality assurance initiatives to uphold standards. Assist in the training of new staff or students as necessary. In the role of Medication Distribution Specialist, you will oversee the packaging, distribution, and inventory management of medications under the general supervision of Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Recent experience in a hospital pharmacy setting, familiarity with pharmaceutical terminology and medication names, proficiency with EPIC (Willow Pharmacy) and Windows-based software. Basic understanding of inventory management, including minimizing expired medications. Graduation from a recognized pharmacy assistant program or recent retail pharmacy experience acceptable to the employer may be considered. Proficiency in the English language (both written and verbal) is required. Typing skills of 40 words per minute are desired. Strong communication, interpersonal, and time management skills are essential. Ability to follow both oral and written instructions is necessary. Good organizational, time management, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities are required. Must exhibit tact, courtesy, discretion, and respect for confidentiality.
Physical Requirements:
Must be capable of performing tasks under direct supervision, be open to constructive feedback, and demonstrate accuracy, punctuality, reliability, and cooperation. A proactive service attitude and self-motivation to enhance existing processes for improved patient care are essential. Must be able to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Adaptability to learn and efficiently utilize new technologies, software, and changing workflows is necessary.
Physical fitness is important as the majority of the shift involves:
typing, maintaining static positions, heavy lifting, standing, crouching, bending, pushing, pulling, kneeling, walking, and standing for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications:
1+ year of experience in a rural hospital pharmacy supporting remote sites, training in EPIC, experience with Omnicell Automated Dispensing Cabinets, and expertise in inventory management, including controlled substances and repackaging.
