Hays Recruitment in Ottawa has partnered closely with our client Surgenor Automotive Group to find their next Bilingual General Manager who will be responsible for one of their dealerships in the Ottawa/Gatineau area.

Surgenor is known for excellent customer service, putting their customers first in every aspect of their day-to-day. They sell new or pre-owned vehicles, provide vehicle servicing, and have a record of excellent customer reviews.

Your new role

As the Bilingual General Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the profitable and successful operation of a dealership location. Some responsibilities include:

Management:

  1. Developing positive relationships with the staff to ensure overall successful operation, to maintain manufacturer standards, and to create a positive working environment.
  2. Train and mentor all staff to uphold professionalism on the sales and service floors.
  3. Weekly meetings with sales staff and managers to review market share, advertising, inventory, F&I, CSI, and more.
  4. Weekly/Monthly meetings with managers to review results of CSI, Open RO's, and more.
  5. Ensure completion of staff reviews.
  6. Ensure each job description and respective processes are up to date - includes: sales process, service reception process, service delivery process, body shop process, and more.
  7. Hiring done efficiently, thoroughly, effectively.
  8. All highly confidential information handled with care, and if in hard copy form, kept locked.

Finance:

  1. Development of annual forecast prior to end of fiscal year, reviewed monthly comparing actual to previous year results.
  2. Monthly review of financial statement in coordination with the Controller.

Dealership Management:

  1. Client and employee satisfaction is the primary focus for all operating decisions; concerns or inquiries handled efficiently and effectively.
  2. Vehicle inventory reviewed monthly and managed appropriately to meet forecasted demand, alongside managing wholesale interest charges.
  3. All service and sales processes are completed effectively and efficiently.
  4. Act as key contributor to the advertising strategy. Includes budget determination, ad focus, media choice, and more. Communication between departments of marketing launches, to ensure all information shared with customers is correct and consistent.
  5. Used inventory reviewed weekly to ensure fair values, represent a suitable mix, and are totally reconditioned/available for customer demonstration.
  6. Provide a report of all new and used sales to F&I, to all managers.
  7. Weekly review of leads, shared with the Sales Managers.
  8. Ensure good health and safety of all activities and areas. Attend health and safety meetings.

What you'll need to succeed

  1. Industry experience, or related - automotive, service, transportation, hospitality, or more.
  2. Previous GSM or GM Automotive experience.
  3. Ability to balance various priorities, be the point of contact for the team and departments, communicative, engaging, resourceful, hold a strong sales acumen, and fit with above required responsibilities.
  4. Entrepreneurial, solutions-oriented.
