About Defeat Duchenne Canada

Duchenne muscular dystrophy is a form of muscular dystrophy that affects children – with the vast majority of those diagnosed being boys. Duchenne is characterized by a progressive muscle weakness and currently has no cure. However, research is continuing to move the needle forward in terms of understanding and treating the disease, so those with Duchenne are living longer than ever.


Role Profile

General Administration and Customer Service (25%)

  • Manage reception/general DDC inbox, triage calls, administer mail and filing systems
  • Manage office supplies and vendor relationships
  • Manage the organization’s general email inbox. Respond to inquiries and/or redirect as appropriate and provide excellent customer service

Finance Administration: (25%)

  • Process weekly bank deposits and payment runs
  • Reconcile online and credit card donations and disbursements using a variety of donation services
  • Reconcile monthly bank and credit card statements
  • Prepare month end reports for accountant
  • Assist with annual audit preparation as needed
  • Create cheque requisitions for all research projects with: Payable to, information provided by approved researchers

Database Administration: (35%)

  • Manage all data within Raisers’ Edge including (but not limited to) updating and adding new records for all external stakeholders, updating campaign and appeal coding, and compiling constituent queries as needed
  • Reconcile data with regular audits of database and update as required
  • Process and receipt all donation types (cash, cheque, credit card, direct deposit, etc.)
  • Establish data entry guidelines sharing those expectations with other team members.
  • Maintain policy and procedure guidelines related to gift processing.
  • Perform regular audits of Raiser’s Edge to ensure automated processes are accurate and efficient
  • Commit event-related gifts through Raiser’s Edge integrated program (JMG Imports)

Executive Office (CEO) and Administrative Support (10%)

  • Track expenses and complete expense reports (CE0)
  • Assist with calendar management (CEO)
  • General administrative support as needed (CEO & Team)
  • Book travel, etc., as required (CEO & Team)

Board of Directors Support (5%)

  • Assist with the distribution of board and committee agendas and minutes as required
  • Provide support to Board members as required

Required Skills/Experience:

-Experience working in a Not-for-Profit environment considered an asset

-Strong communication and collaboration abilities

-Experience working with Raiser's Edge or similar fundraising database is strongly preferred

-Excellent customer service abilities

-Experience managing operational and/or finance processes and procedures preferred

-Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail and deadlines

Position is hybrid. Ideal candidate would be able to work minimum of 2-3 days/wk from our office in London, Ontario
