Full-time position (40 hours/week)
The Burnaby School District invites applications for the above full-time CUPE position. The Technical Support Specialist has primary responsibility for the operational support of staff end-users which includes software applications and services and user account management. The Technical Support Specialist creates informational and instructional documentation, training materials, and designs and delivers end-user training as needed. This incumbent will also provide first level software and hardware troubleshooting and support.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Maintains and updates a variety of user accounts and associated network administrative systems.
- Creates, updates, and closes work order tickets; prioritizes calls to other technicians as required. Initiates and maintains the user database.
- Provides leadership and technical training to staff as required.
- Coordinates the posting of service notifications and information to district staff as required.
Qualifications
- Graduation from a recognized university or 2-year technical program, including or supplemented by appropriate certifications, plus a minimum of four years related experience.
- Extensive knowledge of computer operation and software applications related to work performed.
- Thorough knowledge of desktop class hardware types and configuration.
- Thorough knowledge of network operations, network operating systems, and applicable network software applications.
- Valid BC Driver’s License (Class 5) and vehicle for transportation between sites.
