We are seeking an experienced Automation and Control (Electrical) Engineer:

to join our development team. The successful candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, team environment and be interested in contributing to the direction of future Kraken products.

Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and design of shipboard electrical systems (3 phase, 480 V)
  2. Design data acquisition systems (sensors/actuators) for system control
  3. Develop industrial automation software and embedded firmware
  4. Establish design criteria for projects using required codes and standards
  5. Create and maintain electrical drawings and technical documentation
  6. Participate in the design review process
  7. Direct activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements
  8. Work with the Production department to provide technical assistance during the manufacturing process
  9. Work with customers to understand project requirements and provide operational support while in the field
Qualifications:
  1. Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent engineering discipline with 5+ years experience.
  2. Understanding of design standards and strong troubleshooting skills.
  3. Demonstrated technical skills along with a proven track record for success.
  4. Strong written and oral communications skills (technical reporting)
  5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  6. Must be able to work independently, as well as effectively within a team environment.
  7. High degree of organization, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  8. Experience with high power systems, AC/DC motors and electric motor control
  9. Appreciation of other engineering disciplines (Digital and Analog Electronics)
  10. Fundamentals of software and firmware development (C/C++, Python, LabVIEW)
  11. Familiarity with various communication protocols (TCP, RS-232, CANbus, Modbus, etc.)
  12. Data processing and control algorithms (PID)
  13. Electronics assembly and troubleshooting
  14. Experience with Sonar/ROV systems especially in an ocean environment
  15. Familiarity with design of systems in the marine environment
  16. Industrial automation and controls
  17. Experience with military contracts MIL-STD-461
