The Opportunity

Commensurate with AGI’s continuous growth being experienced, AGI’s Internal Audit function is increasing in-house capabilities. AGI Internal Audit supports the company’s internal control over financial reporting (“ICFR”) regulatory requirements (52-109 Certification filing); performs operational, financial and compliance internal audit reviews and monitoring and advisory activities; and supports governance and risk management programs and activities such as the company’s Enterprise Risk Management program.

Note: This is an office-based role with flexibility to work remotely when practical and approved.

The Team

As the Senior Internal Auditor, you will be reporting to the Senior Manager Internal Audit. The Internal Audit function resourcing consists of working with third-party service providers and with management and staff professionals that also have a role to perform ICFR program activities. This mix of resourcing is expected to continue to evolve over time.

Responsibilities

As the Senior Internal Auditor, you will play a key role in planning, executing, and reporting in internal audits, per IIA standards, and evaluating internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) as part of AGI’s 52-109 program. The proportion of time spent on these responsibilities will be based on priorities and evolving Internal Audit function capacity and capabilities.

  • ICFR Program
    -Executing ICFR testing and related documentation.
    -Assisting with other program activities as required, such as annual risk assessment and scoping, planning and scheduling, program activities status tracking and periodic status reporting for leadership and Board Audit Committee.
  • Internal Audit Activity
    -Assisting with planning and coordination of internal audit reviews, executing internal audit project field work, and assisting with reporting on internal audit project results.
  • Assisting with other internal audit activities as required, such as assisting with management action plan implementation tracking, ad-hoc advisory requests, development of the annual risk based internal audit plan and periodic status reporting for leadership and Board Audit Committee.
  • Maintain strong relationships and work collaboratively with AGI’s management and staff and third parties.

Qualifications

  • University degree.
  • Possess or are working towards Chartered Professional Account (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or equivalent.
  • 2-3+ years of auditing experience.
  • Experience with publicly listed companies required to comply with Ontario Bill 198 / NI52-109 or Sarbanes Oxley.
  • Demonstrated skills in client relationships.
  • Team player and able to work independently.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to grasp a holistic view combined with attention to detail.
  • Proficient written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and initiatives.
  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic to learn and contribute to achieving internal audit function and organizational goals.
  • Ability to travel to AGI locations is required when such travel is determined to be of value. Such cases are generally expected to be infrequent.
