Director of Language

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Language Director is responsible for ensuring the effective development and delivery of language programs for Liard First Nation (LFN) members, fulfilling the priorities and goals of the LFN Kaska Language Strategic Plan.
The position directs the Language Department in areas of Kaska language instruction and curriculum development, Kaska language learning and teaching material development, Kaska language and cultural documentation to develop and support programming, Kaska online and digital resource development, Language Committee meeting facilitation, and the delivery of departmental reports to LFN leadership and to LFN membership at Annual General Assemblies.
The incumbent will be responsible for supervising a multidisciplinary language team and be involved in researching, identifying, developing, recommending, and deploying language policies and programs to ensure successful reclamation and revitalization and of the Kaska language.
As a key member of the Senior Management team, the incumbent will liaise with other organizations and governments to build effective partnerships and obtain the necessary resources to benefit LFN membership.
