Full Job Description

Immediate need of power system engineer. Require a bachelor degree and in support of all aspects of transmission studies on power flow, voltage stability, transient stability and other power system analyses. Familiar with PSS/E or TARA. Master or PHD is preferred. Relocation will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Will perform transmission feasibility studies for 138 kV and above transmission system using PSS/E and PSCAD, including power flow, voltage stability, transient stability and short circuit analyses.
  • Will prepare steady state, short circuit and dynamic models
  • Will support senior engineer in preparing technical reports.
  • Will offer technical consultations and oversee the process of new generation

interconnection requests throughout the planning cycle.

• Will conduct and review system impact studies, analyzing steady-state load

flow and transient stability performance, as well as performing reactive

planning, Load Interconnection studies, and mitigation planning.

• Will use use PSS/e and TARA to conduct voltage ride-through and critical clearing

time analysis for generator interconnection studies related to upcoming

  • renewable

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 2+ years of power systems engineering experience,
  • Knowledge in electric power system, synchronous generator, motor, power electronic inverters, wind turbines and solar.
  • Experience with transmission studies on power flow, voltage stability, and other power system analyses.
  • Experience within PSS/E, TARA or DSA tools.
  • Background in static and dynamic modelling of power systems components in PSS/E or DSA tools, including HVDC, VSC, Static Var Compensators, STATCOM and Thyristor Controlled Series Capacitors.
  • PSS/E model development and IPLAN and/or Python programming is an asset
  • Knowledge of reliability and interconnection of the transmission system.
  • Basic knowledge of substation layout and protection and control
  • Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills
