Position Overview

We are currently seeking a qualified power system engineer. Candidates should possess a bachelor's degree and support various aspects of transmission studies, including power flow, voltage stability, transient stability, and additional power system evaluations. Familiarity with PSS/E or TARA is essential, and a Master's or Ph.D. is preferred. Relocation assistance may be available.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct feasibility studies for transmission systems of 138 kV and above utilizing PSS/E and PSCAD, covering power flow, voltage stability, transient stability, and short circuit analyses.
  • Develop steady-state, short circuit, and dynamic models.
  • Assist senior engineers in the preparation of technical documentation.
  • Provide technical consultations and oversee new generation interconnection requests throughout the planning process.

Additional Duties

  • Perform and review system impact studies, analyzing steady-state load flow and transient stability performance, along with reactive planning, load interconnection studies, and mitigation strategies.
  • Utilize PSS/E and TARA for voltage ride-through and critical clearing time analyses related to generator interconnection studies for upcoming renewable projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in power systems engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of electric power systems, synchronous generators, motors, power electronic inverters, wind turbines, and solar technologies.
  • Experience in transmission studies focusing on power flow, voltage stability, and other power system analyses.
  • Proficiency with PSS/E, TARA, or DSA tools.
  • Background in static and dynamic modeling of power system components using PSS/E or DSA tools, including HVDC, VSC, Static Var Compensators, STATCOM, and Thyristor Controlled Series Capacitors.
  • Experience in PSS/E model development and familiarity with IPLAN and/or Python programming is advantageous.
  • Understanding of reliability and interconnection within transmission systems.
  • Basic knowledge of substation layout and protection and control systems.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
