Special Projects Coordinator, Wastewater


ABOUT THE ROLE
The Regional District of Nanaimo is seeking a temporary full-time Special Projects Coordinator, Wastewater, primarily based at the Greater Nanaimo Pollution Control Centre, who will contribute to the effective operations by assisting in the development of comprehensive plans for the Wastewater Services department.

The successful candidate will have responsibility for going out into the field at RDN’s various wastewater sites and collecting, analyzing and completing asset documentation as well as reviewing, coordinating, and organizing various electronic information. The role will be responsible for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with appropriate Federal and Provincial Ministries, private industry and other regional districts or municipalities, as required. This position supports the preparation of terms of reference, proposal requests, tenders, and contract documents for various plans on matters related to programs and projects.

QUALIFICATIONS
A degree in environmental studies, chemistry, geography, environmental planning, public administration, or a related field plus 1 to 3 years prior job-related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. An understanding of theLocal Government Act, the Wastewater Systems Effluent Regulations, the Municipal Wastewater Regulation, the Organic Matter Recycling Regulation, and the Sewerage System Regulation is considered an asset.

POSITION DETAILS
This is a temporary full-time (35 Hours per week) Union position to October 31, 2024, with the possibility of ending early or of extension based on the operational needs of the department. The (2024) hourly rate of pay is $38.17 to $40.18, plus 12.4% in lieu of benefits including vacation and statutory holidays.
