Reporting to the Global Commodities Director, the Supply Chain Sustainability Specialist role will lead research, gather data and build out ideas and recommendations in support of Supply Chain’s sustainability strategies and initiatives. The role will support the implementation of HPS's Responsible Supply Chain Standard and related projects. With a specific focus on engaging key stakeholders, evaluating Supply Chain sustainability challenges, ensuring compliance and reporting on Supply Chain sustainability performance as it relates to Environmental, Social and Governance performance. This position can be located at either our Guelph, ON or Baraboo office.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Collect, analyze, and report on sustainability data and metrics, such as supplier diversity, human rights, conflict minerals, prop 65, modern slavery legislation etc.
  • Providing regular reports and updates to senior management on the performance, risks, and compliance status of the supply chain, and offering recommendations for strategic decision-making.
  • Conduct sustainability assessments and audits of suppliers and Supply Chain processes and follow up on corrective actions and improvement plans jointly with the Commodity management team lead.
  • Ensuring that suppliers adhere to ethical and sustainable practices, such as labor rights, environmental stewardship, and fair-trade principles.
  • Providing sustainability subject-matter-expertise in projects and the review and update of internal protocols and policies focused on HPS's Supply Chain.
  • Provide input into the policies and procedures related to supplier selection, performance management, risk mitigation and ethical sourcing.
  • Engage and collaborate with internal stakeholders to build awareness and commitment to sustainable procurement goals.
  • Facilitating open communication and transparency within the supply chain network, providing stakeholders with relevant information and fostering trust.
  • Monitor and evaluate sustainability trends, risks, and opportunities in the Supply Chain, and provide recommendations, insights to enhance sustainability performance/innovation and ensure compliance.

Do you qualify? We are seeking:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Sustainability, or related field approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in supply chain management, sustainability, or related fields, with a focus on governance and compliance.
  • Experience in policy creation and training with well versed project management skills.
  • Detailed understanding of environmental impacts in the Supply Chain.
  • Strong understanding of sustainability standards, regulations, and best practices, with experience in implementing and monitoring compliance programs.
  • Proven track record in data analysis, reporting, and providing support to strategic initiatives
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Experience in conducting supplier assessments, audits, and managing corrective actions.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work in a virtual global team environment that contributes to the overall timely delivery of multiple projects.
  • Willingness to travel to sites/supplier locations.
